8. (a) Draw electric field lines between the plates of a parallel plate capacitor with (i) air and (ii) dielectric

as the medium. (b)A parallel plate capacitor with air as dielectric is connected to a power supply and charged to a

potential difference Vo. After disconnecting from power supply, a sheet of insulating material is inserted between the plates completely filling the space between them. How will its

(i) Capacity (ii) electric field and (iii) energy change.

9. Use Gauss’s law to obtain an expression for the electric field due to an infinitely long straight uniformly

charged wire.

17. (a) State the theorem which relates the enclosed charge, inside a closed surface, with the electric flux

through it. Use this theorem to obtain the electric field due to a uniformly charged thin spherical shell at an (i) outside point (ii) inside point. (b) The electric field components due to a charge inside the cube of side 0.1m are as shown:
