Each summer CATCO, in collaboration with the Columbus Recreation and Parks Department and Davis Performing Arts Programs, offers performing arts experiences for children ages 4-18. These acting camps bring together children from all walks of life and teach valuable experiences while developing new skills, improving self-confidence, and successfully performing on stage in front of a live audience.

Each academic year, CATCO’s artistic educators conduct 20-week residencies in underserved schools to help children “at-risk of failure in the classroom,” as defined by the Ohio Department of Education. Students learn to write, edit, rehearse, and produce a play on an academic subject that the students must master for the state achievement tests.

T H E A C T I N G C O M P A N Y

Connor McClellan (Sherlock Holmes) was born and raised in Columbus and he minored in theatre at Indiana University. In Columbus, he has performed in various shows with Emerald City Players, Little Theatre Off-Broadway, Curtain Players, and Columbus Civic Theater. Recently, he has appeared in Art, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Woolf?, and A Moon for the Misbegotten all at the Columbus Civic Theatre. He thanks his Nana for early and current inspiration.

Scott Douglas Wilson (Watson) A native of Columbus, Ohio, Scott is an award-winning actor, writer, teacher and director. He has lived & worked professionally in New York City, Boston, North Carolina, Fort Lauderdale & Miami, FL. In 2009, he graduated with an MFA in Acting from the Ohio State University and holds a BFA in Acting from Otterbein University. Scott has performed with several national touring companies, appeared in the award-winning film Glass City (Best Actor, 2009 Naperville Independent Film Festival), co-founded the NYC-based sketch comedy troupe, the Scallywags, as well as the Columbus-based Whistling in the Dark Theatre Co. While living in South Florida, Scott worked as an actor and educator with numerous theatre companies, schools and universities, including New World School of the Arts (full-time faculty) and Barry University. He is an Equity Membership Candidate (EMC), member of VASTA (Voice and Speech Trainers Association, Inc.), 2011 Carbonell Award nominee for Best Actor (The Pillowman, Infinite Abyss), and currently serves as a Theatre Instructor at The Ohio State University & Ohio Dominican University, and Associate Producer/Literary Manager for Thinking Cap Theatre Co.

Ben Tracy (Player #1) recently graduated from Wright State’s BFA Acting program, where he appeared in The Great Gatsby (Nick Carraway), and The Music Man (Charlie Cowell), among other shows. A proud native of Minneapolis, he has worked with CLIMB Theatre and the historic Old Log Theatre (Charlotte’s Web.) He is thrilled to make his CATCO debut.

Ralph E. Scott (Player #2), a BFA Performance graduate from Otterbein University and a graduate of The Second City in Chicago, is a member of Actors Equity and SAG/AFTRA. CATCO credits include The Final Table, My Name Is Asher Lev, and Bengal Tiger At The Baghdad Zoo. Ralph can be seen in the soon to be released horror-comedy Demon Hole and Looking for The Jackalope with Stephen Root. Additional film credits include Oracabessa which won three of its four nominations at The London International Film Festival Of World Cinema last year.

Abigail Worden (Player #3) discovered a love for stage management through undergraduate productions at Capital University, including The Pirates of Penzance and The Mystery of Edwin Drood, and across two seasons at Weathervane Playhouse in Newark, Ohio, including productions of The Music Man and The 25th Annual Putnam County Spelling Bee. She is excited and grateful to be an Artist Education Apprentice with CATCO this season, and to be Assistant Stage Managing this engrossing production—her first Equity credit.

Steven C. Anderson (Producing Director) is the Artistic Director of the recently merged CATCO- Phoenix. He has created plays for and with Central Ohio children for the past thirty years. He is the recipient of the Ohio Theatre Alliance Lifetime Achievement Award, the Southside Settlement Arts Freedom Award, and a Certificate of Achievement from the Community Center for the Deaf. His directing credits for CATCO include: I Am My Own Wife; Love! Valour! Compassion!; The Taste of Sunrise; The Final Table; Mothers and Sons; and most recently An Act of God.

David Helmsley Caldwell (Director) returns to CATCO having previously directed Vanya & Sonia & Masha & Spike for the 2015-2016 season. Mr. Caldwell most recently directed Vintage Hitchcock for Flat Rock Playhouse, Million Dollar Quartet for the Lyceum and A Funny Thing Happened on the way to the Forum for Totem Pole Playhouse. Last year David was commissioned by the Dixie Theatre Foundation to conceive and direct Oystertown: A Celebration of Apalachicola, Florida, an original evening of music and storytelling. He also recently directed Dogfight for the Webster Conservatory, Driving Miss Daisy for Little Theatre on the Square and A Grand Night For Singing for Otterbein Summer Theatre. Regional credits include: Milwaukee Rep., McCoy Rigby Entertainment, Meadowbrook Theatre, Riverside Theater, Montana Repertory Theatre, Cincinnati Playhouse in the Park, Florida Studio Theater, Pennsylvania Stage Company, Max & Louie Productions, Downtown Cabaret Theatre, Allenberry, The Gretna Playhouse. Kirsten Upchurch (Stage Manager) is excited to join CATCO! Her recent adventures have included acting as the Production Stage Manager for the 2015-16 National & New Zealand tour of Flashdance the Musical and the 2014-15 National tour of Jekyll & Hyde. She holds he MFA in Theatre Performance from Florida Atlantic University.

Annie Huckaba (Assistant Stage Manager) is thrilled to be back at CATCO. She had the pleasure of being an Acting apprentice in the 2014-2015 season. Since then, she has performed with Oceania Cruises and Dollywood Entertainment. She hopes you enjoy the show!

Michael S. Brewer (Scenic Designer) is a Wright State University 1987 BFA graduate. He has worked with regional theaters across the country as a Charge Scenic Artist, including stays with The Cincinnati Conservatory Of Music, Cincinnati, Memphis and Cleveland Playhouses, The Alliance Theatre in Atlanta, The La Jolla Playhouse in San Diego. He has designed shows locally with CATCO, Short North Stage, Potsdam Music Theatre and Wright State University.

Darin Keesing (Lighting Designer) returns to CATCO after designing The Final Table and Master Class last season. Past CATCO credits include Souvenir and The Seafarer. Darin has designed scenery or lighting for CATCO is Kids, Available Light, SRO, and, most recently, Otterbein University’s production of Much Ado About Nothing. Darin has designed in Chicago, Indiana, New Hampshire, and Pennsylvania, and worked two seasons for The Oprah Winfrey Show.

Marcia Hain (Costume Designer) has been a costumer in the Columbus area for over 30 years. She ran the costume shop for Otterbein University for 22 years and designed over 20 productions. She also taught costume construction and wardrobe. Marcia is now pleased to be with CATCO and is enjoying the challenges of professional theatre. Favorite designs include Phantom (associate design), Hello Dolly, and The Drowsy Chaperone for Otterbein and Jungle Book and Peter and the Starcatcher for CATCO. She has also done freelance work for various local theatres and high schools. Marcia is a graduate of the Ohio State University.

Ben Sostrom (Props Master) is happy to be returning to CATCO for Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery. He trained at the University of Michigan Props Department, has a theatre degree from OSU, and was a CATCO Acting Apprentice for the 2012-13 season. Previous CATCO productions as props master include Peter and the Starcatcher, The Elephant Man, HONK!, The Final Table, The Jungle Book, My Name Is Asher Lev, Revenge of the Space Pandas, Shipwrecked!, and Ring of Fire. He has also designed props for Whistling in the Dark, Solstice Theatre Co. and Columbus Civic Theater.

Nicolette Montana (Olivia) has appeared in CATCO’s Avenue Q (Christmas Eve) and Evil Dead: The Musical (Linda). Matthew Sierra (Ethan) is excited to be part of the cast of Sex With Strangers! He is currently an acting apprentice for CATCO is Theatre. Clay Eads (Lighting Designer) Originally from Texas, Clay has been be living and working in Columbus since 2009. Clay makes his living as a photo editor, graphic designer, and lighting designer. Some of Clay’s recent lighting projects include: Wolf Tales (CATCO is Kids), Alone, Alone (KDH Dance Company) and The Promise Land (A&B Theatricals).
