I have served as her academic advisor and professional colleague during her undergraduate studies at Purdue University. I know Rachel to be a uniquely talented individual. Her academic record demonstrates her excellent scholarship; as a College of Liberal Arts Honors student, Rachel did not hesitate to explore various areas of study to satisfy her curiosity, and she sought out coursework that would challenge and broaden her perspectives. Rachel further expanded her horizons through her active membership in the Student English Association where her leadership efforts revitalized a declining organization. She helped with marketing the club and organizing engaging programs for the meetings. Membership rose and the organization became a valuable resource for English majors on campus. However, her greatest accomplishment was her management of the undergraduate literary magazine, The Bell Tower. She initiated financing through grant writing and found inventive ways to publicize the publication. She was instrumental in encouraging literary submissions from students, formed committees to read and choose selections, and helped format the final product. To Whom It May Concern:

It is my pleasure to write a letter of recommendation for Rachel Kelly. I have served as her academic advisor and professional colleague during her undergraduate studies at Purdue University.I know Rachel to be a uniquely talented individual. However, her greatest accomplishment was her management of the undergraduate literary magazine, The Bell Tower. She initiated financing through grant writing and found inventive ways to publicize the publication. She was instrumental in encouraging literary submissions from students, formed committees to read and choose selections, and helped format the final product.Rachel’s leadership and collaborative ability was an asset to the running of our office as well. As a student worker who became a full-time employee, she showed herself to be flexible, innovative, and cooperative. At times, her position required her to deal with disagreeable students, frustrated parents and demanding colleagues. I personally witnessed Rachel’s handling of these pressures with grace and patience. She showed herself to be a creative problem solver in the many projects she initiated and organized. Her positive attitude and generous approach to her job has been a gift to our office. This well-rounded and capable woman would be a fine addition to any organization. Please feel free to contact me if you need further information.

Sincerely,

Mona A. Quinn, M.S., Academic Advisor, Undergraduate English and Theatre
