Dear Parents & Carers,
APRIL PUPIL FREE DAY SURVEY RESULTS Many thanks to the 144 of you who took the time to have a say in deciding our Pupil Free Day date for April.
We had 121 parent responses, 21 staff responses and 2 respondents were both parents & staff.
The overwhelming vote was in favour of moving the Pupil Free Day to Monday 30th April (80% to 20%).
Therefore, we will have a usual school day on Monday 16th April and a Pupil Free Day on 30th April. Buses will run as usual on 16th April. I understand that this will mean making alternative arrangements for Monday 30th April for your children (instead of Monday 16th April), but trust that this early advice will assist in that regard.
Please note that this additional Pupil Free Day is a ‘one off’ granted to all state schools this year because of the Commonwealth Games.
On behalf of our teachers, I would like to thank you for your support, which will allow all of them to attend the Anita Archer Professional Learning presentation on Monday 30th April.
SCHOOL PHOTOS The school photo ordering page is now ready for you to place your orders.
The web address is www.justphotography.com.au/na18
Parents have until 5pm on Monday the 19th of March to place orders. After this time they can't order a sibling photo. A late fee of $10 applies to any orders received after this date.
Envelopes for captains photos will be sent home later this week.
Staff and OSHC photos will be taken at 8.30am on Monday 19th March. Class photos and individual photos will then be taken throughout the remainder of that day, with School Captain, House Captain, Student Councillors and Sibling Photos being taken on Tuesday 20th March.
This year, we will also be taking a whole school photo on Wednesday the 21st March. All students and staff are asked to assemble on the top oval at 8.45am.
Students are to wear full formal NASS school uniform for all photos, although House Captains should wear their Sports House Uniform for that particular photo thanks.
Regards Kelly
NASS Behaviour Expectation for Week 7
BEING SAFE WHEN EATING, TRANSITIONING AND LINING UP
ICAS ASSESSMENTS Just a reminder that the 2018 ICAS REGISTRATION FORMS for Digital Technologies, Science, Writing, Spelling, English and Mathematics must be completed and returned to the office with payment, no later than Friday 16 March, 2018.
Please Note: If you are registering more than one child to participate in ICAS assessments, each child will need to be registered on their own separate Registration Form. Additional Registration Forms are available from the office. POSITIVE BEHAVIOUR FOR LEARNING (PBL) This week our school’s focus is “Being safe in the playground” which includes:
Only playing in supervised areas Wearing a sun smart hat and closed in shoes Only playing school approved games Keep your hands and feet to yourself Report all incidents to the adult on duty
If a student is involved in any incidents we encourage the student/s to try and work out the problem on their own before reporting the incident to the teacher. We encourage each child to use their “High 5”.
Talk friendly and try and work out the situation Talk friendly but firmly “STOP, I don’t like that” Put your hand up and say “Stop or I’ll report” Move away and REPORT to an adult Return to play or whatever you were doing
Regards, Carmel
WEEK 7 SCHOOLWIDE BEHAVIOUR FOCUS For week 7 of Term 1, we are learning about what it means to BE SAFE and how it applies IN THE PLAYGROUND. We:
Participate in school approved games Wear shoes and socks at all times Be sun safe; wear a broad brimmed hat Keep my hands and feet to myself Use equipment correctly
2018 SCHOOL FEES All invoices have been sent home for the 2018 school fees (Grid of Costs) two weeks ago. Please note that for every fee that is paid in full before the last day of term (Thursday 29th March, 3pm), you will receive an entry into the draw for a $100 Flexischools voucher. One entry per child paid in full. Many thanks to those of you who have already paid your fees and good luck! RHINO COMPETITION Thanks to all Years 1-2 classes for their careful consideration of the name and rules for our newest NASS member.
The Student Council met yesterday to decide on a winner, but due to the very high standard of the entries, they had to split it and award 2 winners.
The winning NAME of the rhino is: ROCKY RHINO (this was suggested by 1/2RV so they will receive 20 mins of extra playtime on the playground as their prize).
The winning RULES for ROCKY are: (these were suggested by 2MB so they will receive the same prize as 1/2RV): Be respectful - Take turns
Be safe – no more than 6 riders at a time
Be safe – no standing on my back
Be safe – do not rock ROCKY or push others
Be safe – get down carefully off me, without jumping
Be safe – do not sit on my head
Be safe – I am ticklish so please don’t climb under me
Congratulations to both classes and thanks again to P-2 classes, for your entries.
Thanks to Mr Mac for helping the Student Council with this big decision!

SHORT TERM PARKING AT
THE FRONT OF THE SCHOOL
We have had a number of complaints that parents/carers are not using the ‘Stop, Drop, Go’ zone appropriately. If you do wish to access the zone, make sure you keep moving forward in the queue so that the area is not blocked by your vehicle.
