The Kellogg Community
College Foundation
is a place that opens doors and changes lives.
In 1998, the KCC Board of Trustees encouraged the College to establish a Foundation to seek private funding to assist students with a variety of financial needs and to ensure KCC’s accessibility to all students in the College’s service district.
In keeping with that mandate the KCC Foundation provides a broad charter that encompasses the diverse educational programs of the College, matched to the equally diverse interests of generous donors.
The Foundation provides merit and need-based scholarships and other forms of direct and indirect assistance to students. Often this help comes at a crucial time in people’s lives, giving them the encouragement and confidence to succeed despite the barriers they may encounter.
Your gift can mean the difference between achieving an educational dream and having to put the dream on hold. The Foundation thanks you for your generosity, as do the students.
ENDOWMENTS ~ Giving as a TributeMajor gifts of $10,000 and up given in perpetuity, as memorials or tributes to individuals by family and friends, or by corporations, organizations or associations. Such gifts are payable as one donation or over five years. Often an endowment event is held to raise the funds. Endowed funds are invested and the interest used in accordance with the policies of the Foundation. The principal is never spent. Endowment donors are invited to meet scholarship recipients at the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Event.
GOLD KEY SCHOLARSHIP ~ Opening DoorsKCC’s most prestigious scholarships that recognize and encourage outstanding academic and personal achievement awarded to high school graduates. Gold Key donors agree to provide a gift of $4,500 for the first and second years at KCC. Gold Key donors are invited to meet scholarship recipients at the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Event.
ANNUAL GIFTS ~ An Opportunity for SuccessDonations of $1,500 and up are considered “Annual Gifts or Scholarships,” although gifts of any amount are gratefully accepted. Donors are encouraged to “name” their scholarship and set application criteria. To name a scholarship, the donor pledges to support for at least three consecutive years. Donors are invited to meet scholarship recipients at the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Event.
PLANNED GIFTS ~ Leaving a LegacyDonors who have indicated a bequest or future gift in a will, an estate, trust, life insurance policy or retirement plan are included in the Foundation’s Heritage Circle and, if desired, on our donor recognition wall and in future
publications. Planned gift donors are invited to meet scholarship recipients at the Foundation’s Annual Scholarship Event.
PROGRAM INITIATIVES ~ Supporting KCC ProgramsThe Foundation promotes and encourages gifts for specific program needs identified by KCC faculty, staff, and retirees. Such additional monetary support serves to enrich the lives of the KCC student body by providing enhanced educational opportunities and experiences.
SPECIAL EVENTS ~ Engaging the CommunitySpecial events are held throughout the year and include
“friendraising” and scholarship fundraising activities. Events such as the annual Bruin Scholarship Open, one-on-one lunches, donor recognition receptions and program initiative opportunities give donors the chance to connect with the College.
MATCHING GIFTS ~ Valuing Charitable GiftsMatching gift programs are in place at many area businesses and organizations. It is not uncommon for companies to double or even triple the value of an employee’s charitable contribution to the KCC Foundation. To begin your matching gift program, please contact your company or organization Human Resource Administrator to obtain the necessary forms.
Contributions of any amount are appreciated and directly support the KCC Foundation’s General Scholarship Fund. If you are considering a gift to the KCC Foundation and would like additional information, please contact us at 269-965-4161 or at kccfoundation @kellogg.edu.
