Kelimutu Lake AdventuresKelimutu is one of the mountains listed as a thousand in Indonesia which are mountains morethan 1,000 meters high.The area is said to have begun to attract attention after being noticed bya regional Dutch military commander, B. van Suchtelen in 1915 and became more well-known afterY. Bouman wrote about the site in 1929.The closest airports are Maumere, and Ende. There are regular flights from Bali to Ende. Thendrive from Ende to Moni, the town at the base of Kelimutu where accommodation is available,takes about 3 hours.The lakes have been a source of minor phreatic eruptions in historical time. The summit of thecompound 1639 meters high Kelimutu volcano is elongated two km in a WNW-ESE direction; theolder cones of Kelido and Kelibara are located respectively three km to the north and two km tothe south. The scenic lakes are a popular tourist destination.Kelimutu is also of interest to geologists because the three lakes have different colors yet are atthe crest of the same volcano. According to the local officer at Kelimutu National Park, the colourchanges as a result of chemical reactions resulting from the minerals contained in the lakeperhaps triggered by volcano gas activity.The volcano contains three striking summit crater lakesof varying colors. Tiwu Ata Mbupu (Lake of Old People) is usually blue and is the westernmost ofthe three lakes. The other two lakes, Tiwu Nuwa Muri Koo Fai (Lake of Young Men and Maidens)and Tiwu Ata Polo (Bewitched or Enchanted Lake) are separated by a shared crater wall and aretypically green or red respectively. The lake colors vary on a periodic basis. Subaqueous fumarolesare the probable cause of active upwelling that occurs at the two eastern lakes.

1st day : Dps – Maumere/Ende – Moni

2nd day : Moni – Kelimutu – Bena

3rd day : Bena – Maumere – Denpasar

Kelimutu or three coloreds lake is located in middle of Flores,exactly in Regency of Ende. From Baliyou can cacht directly flight to Ende or Maumere only about 2 hours. When you get there you w illmeet our local guide who w ill companying you during your day at the island, From Ende youspending about 1 hour to Moni village or about 2 hours from Maumere. Your lunch w ill serve onthe way to moni at the local restaurant. After that you w ill spending a night at Moni village, in thehotel.Early morning you (around 4 o'clock) w ill get morning call to continue your trip to w itness thespectacular sunrise from Kelimutu area. After sunrise time you w ill see the beauties of threecolored lake. Next visit in our trip after Kelimutu is Bena village, relic of the stone age still can befound in this area. Settlements are arranged neatly, the stage of the unique and friendly localsmake and impressed when visiting here.
