Team and Individual Successes Girls in the Upper 6th achieve an excellent set of A Level results. An astounding 91.4% achieved A*-B, but even more impressively, 31% achieved A* and 75.4% A*/A. Girls in the Upper 5th celebrate record GCSE results, achieving 75.7% A* grades and 92.6% A*/A. 24 girls achieved all A* grades, 34 girls achieved 10 or more A* and 51 girls out of a year group of 75 achieved all A*/A. One girl in the Upper Fifth wins a prestigious award in “The Write Stuff”, a national short story competition run by the Sunday Times with best- selling author Barbara Taylor Bradford and top journalist Eleanor Mills among the judges. One girl in the Upper 5th named Young Poet of the Year in prestigious competition ran by the Foyle Publishing Company. One girl in the Upper 5th achieves first place in “Agincourt 600” Tournament, a national historical public- speaking competition for students aged 15-19. As part of the Young Writers’ Poetopia competition, one girl in the Lower 4th is shortlisted for the final and has her work published in an anthology. Four girls in the Upper 5th awarded prestigious Arkwright Engineering Scholarship. Six girls in the Lower 6th awarded Gold Crest Certificates for the work they undertook as part of the Engineering Education Scheme. One girl in the Lower Sixth has her article published in the Young Scientists Journal. Two teams of Lower 6th Economics students come in first and second place at the Institute of Chartered Accountants’ Business and Accounting Competition. Two Lower 6th girls secure places on the Holocaust Education Trust’s ‘Lessons from Auschwitz’ programme. Six girls win prizes in the Anglo-French society annual poetry competition. Four girls in the Upper 5th recognised by the Royal Astronomical Society as one of the top 12 highest performing students in the country in GCSE Astronomy. Two girls in the Lower 5th win the ‘Curious About Copper Poster Competition’, exploring the properties of copper in one of three categories: ‘Buildings and Design’, ‘Electronics and Communication’ and ‘Health and Medicine’. In the British Physics Olympiads, four girls awarded Silver and eleven girls awarded Bronze in the GCSE Challenge.
