Transcript of Keeping Ely’s Car Parking Free Mike Bradley Keeping Ely’s ... · in May. Anna says: “I want...
Anna was brought up in Little Downham and went to Feoffees School and the City of Ely Community College.
She is your serving District Councillor and is well known for speaking up for her patch and putting the welfare of her residents first.
She has consistently fought against parking charges in Ely. Recently, she has been involved in a radical restructure of the District Council, cutting management positions to save money and moving the Council to a ‘can do’ and open for business approach.
Anna has supported many residents with local issues struggling to navigate ‘the system’ and believes passionately in maintaining the quality of village life.
The impending growth of the greater Ely area will inevitably have an impact on our villages - Mike is keen to ensure that they can reap the benefits from forthcoming changes. With his international commercial experience, high-level expertise in IT, and ongoing mentoring of businesses large and small,
Mike has much to offer in serving local government in these changing times.
Mike has lived in Witcham since 1999. He was drawn to the area by the wonderful natural environment which he is keen to protect. As a member of the RSPB and local Wildlife Trust, he wants to maintain and improve the quality of life for those of us here now, especially our children, and for future generations.
He has a strong commitment to village life and is actively involved in supporting local events, including the essential
fundraising.
Mike says: “Living in a small village and feeling part of a genuine
community has enriched my life immensely - from cricket on the village green to running stalls for family events. I want to stand up for our communities which face more and more challenges as the future beckons.”
Residents in the Downham villages have told us the Ely Southern Bypass is really important to them. Anna has campaigned hard to ensure we get the right solution and funding for this vital infrastructure project.
The project has been granted planning permission, and if elected Mike and Anna will continue to keep up the pressure on Cambridgeshire County Council who has committed to get it built by the end of 2017.

Standing up for our villages
Mike Bradley Keeping Ely’s Car Parking Free Anna Bailey - your District Councillor for the last 8 years
Yes to the Ely Southern Bypass - we’ve got planning permission, now
let’s get it built!
Yes to more opportunities for young people - high quality jobs and apprenticeships
Yes to genuinely affordable housing for local working people - helping young people to get on the housing ladder with Community Land Trusts
Yes to the new multi-screen cinema and leisure centre on Downham Road, Ely - currently going through planning, but let’s get them open!
Yes to even better recycling rates - and getting your bins put back tidily
Yes to better funding for our schools - Cambridgeshire needs a fairer deal
Yes to free car parking - let’s support our high streets and keep central
Ely open for business
Yes to cutting out waste and bureaucracy - cutting management salaries and automatic pay rises; getting rid of red tape
Anna says: “I love this area and the unstinting passion that people in the villages have for their community. I will always speak up for what local people have told me they want - that’s what a good Councillor is there for.”
Promoted by Mrs D N Clark on behalf of the Conservative Party candidates, all of Walsingham Chambers, Butchers Row, Ely, CB7 4NA. Printed by Ken Girvan Printers Ltd, 90 Peterborough Road, Farcet, Peterborough, PE7 3BN, Tel: 01733 562 372
Ely Southern Bypass
A142 Sutton to Ely Cycleway After years of campaigning, the Sutton to Ely cycleway has finally been delivered. Mike says: “This cycleway has been
desperately needed for many years and people can now cycle on this busy road in safety.”
Anna and Mike will push for safer walking routes to schools and giving pedestrians and cyclists more priority - better road crossings and paths to encourage walking and cycling that are separate from vehicles.
We understand that people from our villages need to use Ely regularly to work and to access shops and services. Anna has fought hard against the introduction of charging and Conservatives have pledged to keep parking in our City and town centres free of charge if re-elected in May. Anna says: “I want to see more people in Ely spending their money in the shops, not on car parking!”
It’s really important that our villages benefit from infrastructure money to keep village halls and other local facilities up to date. Anna has worked hard to ensure that money filters down to the villages, and we will continue to ensure that villages get their fair
share of funding. Mike says: “Village halls are often a real focus of the community and
we will fight for money to protect and improve them.”

replace automatic pay increases
with performance related pay
Picked named Champions to push
through a more common sense, non-bureaucratic approach to

a new ‘roof tax’ known as CIL and taken a robust negotiating position with developers for so called Section 106 payments
