Residential service connections can be

quickly and reliably made with theselightweight and compact fixed die tools. The tool is available with a choice of three dies for compressing 1 / 2" or 5 / 8"diameter bare and insulated Serv-ensConnectors, triplex sleeves and URDconnectors. The OS-620 has the addedbenefit of providing a Non-Bow™ crimp.

The bent handle design imparts amechanical advantage. The powerful

jaw mechanism follows the designprinciple of the larger type “O” Tool.

A recommended accessory, the yellow,nylon reinforced, vinyl belt holster withsnap hook, provides convenience andportability of the tool and a supply of fittings.

“O” TOOlS

Almost all distribution connections canbe made with lightweight, low cost type“O” Tools. Wide connection versatility isprovided by interchangeable insert dies.Minimal effort to achieve compression isaccomplished through the placing of

individual die inserts close to the fulcrum. Accepts patented Kearney Non-Bow™Dies.

A fixed nose die provides extraconvenience when installing Serv-ensConnectors and Triplex neutral sleeves.

Powerful, rugged type “O” Tools areengineered around the basic design of the bolt cutter. The jaws are forged steel,heat treated and hardened for highstrength. Bolts are manufactured fromheat treated material and are encased insleeve bearings to greatly reduce wearand subsequent need for future tool

adjustment. Type “O” Tools have fiberglass handles,to extend operating flexibility across allconnection locations. Various handleconfigurations are available – straight,bent or lever.

Matched Kearney “O” Tool die sets areeasily inserted and remain lockedsecurely in place during use. All die sizesare clearly marked on each die.

The use of Kearney patented Non-BowDies is recommended when installing fulltension, single ACSR sleeves.

All type “O” Tools are now supplied withstainless steel pins to accept Burndy® type “W” dies, when a Kearney “D” die isinserted in the cavity.

The 6-HSCT hydraulic compressiontool is designed for use on conductorsup through 4/0 for overhead, under-ground and service entrance connec-

tion applications. It incorporates thesame two-stage rapid advancepumping system utilized in the WH3and WH4 Compression Tools. Thehead swivels 360° for conveniencewhile working in tight areas. pReSSURe HOSe

Pressure hose for connecting any of the tool heads to Kearney Pumps istested at 100,000 volts per foot for fiveminutes to assure safety confidence inlive line work. Surface is highlyabrasion-resistant and is easily cleanedwith a cloth moistened with KearneySolvent (Cat. No. 131600). Each lengthof hose is fitted with self-sealing, quick-disconnect couplings and filled withKearney Power Oil. No more than 110feet of hose should be used with eitherpump. Vinyl tubing is furnished overeach end of hose to prevent kinking.

pUMp CONTROlS

Pneumatic or electric type pumpcontrols are available for electricallyoperated pumps. Pneumatic controlconsists of a rubber bulb, 20 feet of flexible polyethylene tubing, a pressure-actuated switch and six feet of heavy-duty extension cord. The tubing is

tested to 100,000 volts per foot for fiveminutes. Longer extension cords can befurnished, but not tubing. On live line

jobs, the pneumatic control lets thelineman, who is installing the fitting, startand stop the pump by compressing orreleasing the bulb. For ground control of the pump, the electric control isrecommended. It has a spring return,single-button switch on 6 feet of heavy-duty extension cord.

The pressure gauge with couplinginserts at any connection point in thepressure nose line to determine if thepump is developing rated pressure andthe automatic controls are functioningproperly.

Hydraulic boosters are lightweight,high pressure, hydraulic power pumpsof extremely durable construction. Theyfeature a built-in pressure operated

valve which automatically allows thereturn of oil from the line when thecontrol valve lever is in the off position.

They are designed to operateequipment with single-acting springreturn cylinders which are rated for theoutput pressure of the pump. Theoutput pressure of the pump is presetat the factory.

The two-speed pump and anyconnected equipment being driven bythe pump is protected by an internalsafety relief valve. Adjustment of thisvalve is covered under ServicingInstructions.

The pump is powered by a hydraulicfluid operated motor. The motor maybe connected to any closed center oropen center hydraulic system whoseoutput flow is between 2.75 and 5.5gallons per minute at 1,000 psiminimum.

The Kearney Hand Hydraulic Cutter(#100101) is a two-speed cutter foruse on a wide variety of materials. Tosimplify usage, the cutting head can berotated a full 360°. The cutter’s two-speed pump moves blades quickly intocutting position around the material.

When blades reach the cutting point,the pump’s second stage is engagedand over 12,000 pounds of force isexerted for fast, easy operation.

Following the cut, the blades areretracted by lifting the handle slightly,pulling the trigger and pushing thehandle down in a pumping motion.

No tools are required to open andclose the “flip top” head, making iteasy to move on to additional cuts.

The insert type blades can be easilyreplaced in the field with just a screw-driver. To simplify maintenance, bladescannot be inserted backwards.

CUTTeRS

The Kearney Hand Hydraulic Cutter(#100103) is a two-speed cutter foruse on larger materials. To simplifyusage, the cutting head can be rotateda full 360°. The cutter's two-speedpump moves blades quickly intocutting position around the material.

When blades reach the cutting point,the pump's second stage is engagedand over 13 tons of force are exertedfor fast, easy operation.

Following the cut, the blades areretracted by twisting the handle slightlyand pushing the handle down in apumping motion.

No tools are required to open andclose the “flip top” head, making iteasy to move on to additional cuts.

The insert type blades can be easilyreplaced in the field with just a screw-driver. To simplify maintenance, bladescannot be inserted backwards.

The 4,000 psi remote hydraulic cutter isa versatile, time-saving tool thataccomplishes cutting in a fraction of the time required by usual methods.

The blade design provides a clean cutthat can be slipped into sleeve without

additional preparation.Pre-splice stops enable the cutter to beused for pre-splice cutting of ACSRconductors.

Fit-on handle is available to adapt toolsfor use in unusual situations.

OpeRATiON

Pumps run intermittently, only whilecontrol is closed for the time required toindent or cut conductor. All controls fortool heads and pump motors arecentralized.

Over-pressure is prevented by apressure-actuated switch that opensthe motor supply circuit whenmaximum pressure is developed.Maximum pressure coincides withcompletion of indent.

Each pump assembly consists of apiston hydraulic pump directlyconnected to the motor, a pressureactuated switch, an unloading valve,hose connector and necessary poweroil.
