Modular systemKATTCLIMB® modular access components are fabricated in modular sections. This allows for construction of endless ladder and access configurations to suit specific site requirements. Components are robotically welded for a precision perfect finish.
Minimum lead timeKATTCLIMB® modular components are kept in stock, ready to ship. The components for your specific ladder configuration are packaged together, and can typically be despatched within 24 hours or as required.
Easy deliveryThe lightweight components are delivered as a flatpack kit, which ensures easier handling and significant savings on freight costs. The components can be simply man handled to the required location or crane lifted once at destination.
On site assemblyEach ladder is provided with all necessary hardware. Wall attachment hardware is also available on request. By cutting the ladder at the base, to the required length, the system can be built to suit exact site requirements.

Fixed Ladder Compliance Checklist
Rung DiameterAll rungs shall have a minimum diameter of ¾ inch for metal ladders.
Gripping Surfaces Free of Sharp EdgesSide rails that might be used as climbing aids shall be of such cross sections as to afford adequate gripping surface without sharp edges, splinters, or burrs.
Distance Between RungsThe distance between rungs, cleats, and steps shall not exceed 12 inches and shall be uniform throughout the length of the ladder.
Distance Between Ladder RailsThe minimum clear length of rungs or cleats shall be 16 inches.
Cages For Fixed Ladders Cages shall be provided on ladders of more than 20 feet to a maximum unbroken length of 30 feet.Ladder safety device may also be used in lieu of a cage.
Clear Width to the Vertical Center Line of the Fixed LadderA clear width of at least 15 inches shall be provided each way from the centerline of the ladder in the climbing space, except when cages or wells are necessary.

Distance on the Climbing Side From Rung to Nearest ObjectThe perpendicular distance from the centerline of the rungs to the nearest permanent object on the climbing side of the ladder... 30 inches for a pitch of 90º.
Permitted Clearance Behind the Fixed LadderThe distance from the centerline of rungs, cleats, or steps to the nearest permanent object in back of the ladder shall be not less than 7 inches.
Top Rung of Ladder Flush with Landing, Platform or ParapetOne rung of any section of ladder shall be located at the level of the landing laterally served by the ladder.

What’s a Fixed Ladder? A fixed ladder is permanently attached to a structure, building, or equipment. As expected, OSHA has extensive guidelines for all types of ladders, encompassing how they are built, positioned, and used. Below we focus on standards pertaining to fixed ladders — a very common form of permanent access for many types of buildings. KATTCLIMB ladders are designed and manufactured to meet and exceed OSHA standards.
Step-Across Distance Between Fixed Ladder Rung and Platform or LandingThe step-across distance from the nearest edge of ladder to the nearest edge of equipment or structure shall not be more than 12", or less than 2.5".

ANSI provides dimensions, ratings, terminology and symbols, test methods, and performance and safety requirements for personnel, products, systems and services in hundreds of industries, especially construction. Although it is not a government agency and doesn’t have any regulatory authority to address complaints about consumer products or services, it serves as a voluntary standardization system for construction products/procedures – and has for more than 90 years.These standards are typically developed by a committee of industry professionals experienced in the particular field that the standard relates too. OSHA typically accepts ANSI standards, however we would advise that you always research the OSHA website for clarification.

Top Rung of Ladder The top of a step or rung of a ladder shall be level with the top of the access/egress level or landing platform served by the ladder except where access is through a roof hatch.
Preferred Pitch of Fixed LaddersThe preferred pitch of fixed ladders shall be considered to come in the range of 75 and 90 degrees with the horizontal.
Ladder Extension RailsThe side rails of the through ladder extensions shall extend 3.5 feet above the parapets and landings. Forthrough ladder extensions, the steps or rungs shall be omitted and the side rails shall be flared to provide not less than 24", or more than 30" clearance.
Step-Across DistanceThe step-across distance from the centerline of the steps or rungs to the nearest edge of structure, buildingor equipment shall not be less than 7 inches or more than 12 inches. A landing platform shall be provided toreduce the distance between 7 and 12 inches.
Side clearancesA clear width of at least 15 inches shall be provided each way from the centerline of the ladder in the climbingspace, except when cages or wells are necessary.
Design loadsThe minimum design live load shall be two loads of 250 pounds each concentrated between any twoconsecutive attachments. Each step or rung shall be designed for a single concentrated live load of 250 pounds minimum.
