Provides a quick look at the Course, the Unit from the Scope and Sequence, Essential Question, TEKS reference, Prior student learning and an Estimated Time frame.


The Rationale briefly describes the need for the lesson.


Objectives are precise and measurable goals for what the students will be able to accomplish after the lesson is completed.


Engage – provides the teacher with a method to introduce the material and catch the student’s attention. Can range from a hands-on activity to a case study to review and discuss.


Key Points – An outline form that is comprehensive enough to teach the lesson.


Activity – Lists the instructional steps that will be taken to implement the lesson. Several options are provided in the activity section. The teacher can choose for the students to complete all the listed options or pick the one that would best fulfill his/her course needs.


Assessment – Determine how you will assess and know if students meet the standards. Can range from quizzes and tests to rubrics.


Materials – An overview of practical resources and materials needed for instructional planning. Lists books, websites – even links to podcasts.


Accommodations for Learning Differences – Provides examples of how instruction can be differentiated according to learner needs, to help all learners either meet the intent of the specified objective(s) or, if the objective is already met, to advance beyond the specified objective(s).


National and State Standards – National Health Science Cluster Standards - Knowledge and Skills common to all careers in the entire Health Science Cluster.
