TECHNICAL DESCRIPTIONProjectile: Consiste of a hollow steel forging with a boat-tailed base, a streamlined ogive and gilding metal driving band.High Explosive Charge: Is cast TNT. A cavity is formed at the nose of the projectile to accept the supplementary charge.Supplementary Charge: Consists of TBT pressed into an aluminium liner. The entire unit is placed in the fuze cavity.Cartridge Case: Is the M14 type, made of 70/30 brass.Propelling Charge: Type M67, consisting of seven (7) propelling charge increments. The increments are individually munbered and placed in cloth bags.Percussion Primer: Is the M28B2 type and is press-fitted at the base of the cartridge case.Fuze: It is a point detonating, type M557 with choise of superquick or delay action, featur-ing a arming distance of 60 m.

TRAINING AMUNITIONS

The Practice Mortar shell is intended for training in the preparation and execution of firing at reduced ranges.

The mortar shell consists of:

– Mortar shell-launcher (body, tube and tail unit)

– Projectile (fuze, projectile body and safety)

– Expendable elements (spotter, spring and propellent charge)

The mortar shell-launcher, after firing, drops at 4-6 m in front when fired of mortar. The projectile has a range of 500 m when fired under an angle of 450.
