Kareena Kapoor Khan is one actress who has redefined fashion in Bollywood. She has probably created more fashion trends, through her

movies, than any other actress. Here are a few reasons why Kareena is a style icon especially when it

comes to ethnic wear.

Unlike other star kids, Kareena chose an unconventional film Refugee (2000) as her

launch pad where she was seen in a de-glam avatar. She was seen wearing traditional embroidered kurtas and ghagra cholis.

For her role as the warrior princess Kaurwaki in Ashoka (2001), she donned tribal outfits, makeup and

jewellery.

She brought the sharara style lehenga back in vogue with her iconic peach outfit in the song Bole

Chudiyan from Kabhi Kushi Kabhu Gham (2001). Designed with a contemporary twist, this style is

still very popular.

Her patialas and kurtas in Jab We Met (2007) created a whole new fashion trend. Kareena’s Rajsthani print bags, waist chains with harem pants were quite a rage. In the film, the actress was seen wearing harem pants with embroidered spaghetti tops .

Ace designer Manish Malhotra gave a glam twist to her desi look in Bodyguard (2011).

Kareena wore a lot of Chikankari and Kashmiri embroidery kurtas and lace chiffon

sarees.

Even Kareena’s wax statue at Madame Tussauds is clad in a red saree with gold waist detailing and jewellery, inspired by the outfit worn by her in

Chammak Chalo from Ra.one.

the colours, Kareena loves experimenting.
