The fateful year at KC has undergonelots of developmental initiatives andup liftment of standards in allcategories. We strived to give the bestresults and to facilitate our membersin all means. With selfless efforts andd evo t ion o f ea c h ma n agi n gcom mittee m ember, we hav e

redesigned the structure of departments of KC.

I along with my team of dedicated Publication Commiteebring forth the newly structured Magazine with newidentity of KC Network. KC Network carried highlyprofessional outlook and covered all essentials andemphasized more on highlighting the talent of the KC.The Publication Committee holds pride in organizingworkshop by the most profound professionals of theindustry. We have organized 3 interactive and highlyinformational workshops by Umair Jaliawala, ZeeshanLakhpathy and Prof. Moiz and 1 full day transformationalworkshop on Mind Sciences by Prof. Moiz.

It was our motive to introduce latest and state of the arttechnology to Club Members and for that we haveintroduces RFID System in KC, Cheque Printing systemand installed LCD panels within the premises of KC.

Thanks to our President Mohammad Ayub Bawany,Honorary Secretary Mohammad Jawed Zakaria and toall members of Managing Committee for their supportto Publication Committee throughout the year, and Icongratulate all members of M.C for their dedication andappreciate their efforts they made for Karachi Clubthroughout the year specially for arranging 69 eventsthroughout the year, which required lots of time andefforts. Efforts and support of my Publication Committeeteam members and complete office staff of KC werenoteworthy as without which we couldn’t maintain thebest of the standards of KC.

I would like to wish good luck to new team and hopethey will constantly upgrade the standards of KarachiClub and KC Network and they will regularly publish KCNetwork every month and I wish them all the best.

It’s time to say goodbye to all our readers as we havealways tried to upgrade the standard of everything wedo in Karachi Club with sincere dedication and commitment.

Honorary Secretary’sMessage

Dear Members,

It is with immense gratitude to Almighty that I am nearing completion of my second successive term asHonorary Secretary of the Club. I am proud to state that I was bestowed with un-paralleled trust, cooperationand affection by my fellow members throughout the year.

Our Club facilities are under continuous pressure due to excessive usage by our members and their families,hence all efforts to upgrade the facilities are lagging behind. Untill Extension Project comes on line physicalspace in the two Clubs will remain under severe duress. During the year your Managing Committee triedits best to resolve the legal and procedural issues related to the Project and we are glad to report greatstrides in this connection. Task ahead is almost cut out for the next Managing Committee with groundbreaking in very near future.

I and my colleagues in Managing Committee are proud that we have managed the Club in total conformity to the Rules of theClub, decisions however difficult, have been taken to safeguard the prestige and interest of the Club at all cost. We have setup traditions and systems which we hope our successors will follow, all these have been formulated with painstaking effortsof all concerned.

Our belief in accountability is staunch and we have established an Internal Audit System in association with an InternationalAudit Firm. Future managements we hope will allow such systems to function independently.

Our Club has a great future and our aims are high, the future of the Club lies in our hands and it is us who will ensure that weachieve our aims.

President’s Message

Dear Members,

I am at juncture of concluding my second term as your President. It was absolutely a huge pride to serveyou and our beloved Karachi Club.

During the entire tenure all available resources and efforts were employed judiciously in upgrading presentfacilities to international standards and to build new facilities, despite the fact gigantic challenges werealways in the way yet developmental activities and events kept going on throughout the year vehemently.The prominent achievements one must has observed including relaying of synthetic surface of three TennisCourts, re-enactment of Squash Court No.2 is underway, introducing smoke free zone, reinforce securityand vigilance, streamlining parking issue and face lifting of outlets.

Regretfully Extension Project could not start during my tenure in office primarily due to pending litigationand ambiguity in last approved project causing architect to depart and caused search for new andcompetent architect in a transparent and above board manner. We are now in advance stage of redesignof the project with another architect and our agreement with them is ready for signing. All this was achieved in most professionaland transparent manner, so that project can continue without any further ambiguities in future. We are also optimistic ofwrapping up the litigation of lease issue of the adjacent plot before end of our term. We leave a legacy for our successors onwhich they can proceed quickly to embark upon the project.

Another landmark feat is renewal of Annexe Lease Agreement with KPT on amenity rates for further 25 years period to expire in 2038.

I take this opportunity to extend my heartfelt gratification to the Honorary Secretary and the Members of the MC and Sub-Committees for their valuable support, well thought-out suggestions with superb team work towards the accomplishment ofplanned targets, without which it was beyond reach to get them. It would be unfair if I don’t express my thanks to Club stafffor their invaluable support in achieving our goals.

I wish all worthy members and their families a very happy, prosperous and delightful New Year - 2016!

Tribute to Legend Habib Wali Muhammad byhis son Rizwan Wali Muhammad

The KC Entertainment Committee took us tothe memory lane of PTV era when Ghazals by legendHabib Wali Muhammad Sahab were aired and mesmerizedits listeners in its melody. The harmonious evening to acknowledgethe legend was arranged on 21st November.

The event was relished by many adults who belonged to era of 70’s butyoung audience was also part of the evening. The lead vocalist of theevening was the legend’s son Rizwan Wali Muhammad. Rizwan WaliMohammad is the exact reflection of his father in terms of appearanceand voice. Audience were so much engrossed in the Ghazal sung by thelegend’s son that they forgot that legend is no more among us. It seemedthat Habib Sahab himself was singing. The Ghazals sung by Rizwan Sahabwas Aysi bheegi suhani raat main, Nighaoun ki mulakatien and Chaudweeka chand ho. The floor seating arrangement was welcomed by the members and it gave a touch of contemporaryGhazal musical night to ambience.

A night well attended and delighted by the members who were musing into the lyrics of Ghazals and also singingwith the vocalist. Kudos to the Entertainment Committee led by Muhammad Munir Colombo for rejuvenating theold memories and to present a tribute to a legend who was true deserver of such and much bigger appreciation.

The 4th Edition of Hakimuddin Sadiq Gold Cup was held between 30thOctober till 13th November at Amir Bux Snooker Room of Main Club. Theparticipants were divided into 15 teams so as to create harmony and groupinghabits. Finals were played between Team D-4 which was won by team A-1which consisted Farhan Lakhany, Imran Dewan, Umair Idress, Aamir Durveshand Dileep Kumar. The Runners up team A-1 consisted of Hussain Ferozpur,Shahyan Gazdar, Ali Chandna, Hussain Godil and Abdul Aziz. NasiruddinTayyebi was the Chief Guest at the prize distribution ceremony, while FazalYousuf Sadiq was Guest of Honor. Prize Distribution was also attended by

Mohammad Ayub Bawany, President of the Club along with Mohammad Jawed Zakaria, Honorary Secretary,Ghulam Abbas Soomro, Convenor Billiards & Snooker and other Managing Committee Members.

1st KC Inter-Club Badminton Tournament 2015by Badminton Committee

Karachi Club organized "The KC Inter Club Badminton Tournament 2015-16" whichproved to be prodigious success of the Badminton Sub-Committee. The tournamentwas an amazing opportunity for 5 teams namely, DA Sunset Club, DA ZamzamaClub, DA Southend Club, Karachi Gymkhana and the host Karachi Club, to provethemselves worthy of achieving the title but only two teams qualified for the finals Karachi Club and D.A Zamzama Club.

It was a league basis best of 7 team event tournament to increase the confidence level, to make themselves believe that theytoo have chance of winning and introduce the players to one another. Both the finalist teams were exuberant and pertinaciousto win. A huge audience gathered to cheer the finalists and take their confidence up to a new level. Both the teams put theirheart and soul in the game, but only one could've been crowned king. The hall cheered up with joy as the Karachi Club Badmintonteam finally won the tournament. It was a tremendous victory for KC and an amazing experience for everyone who participatedin this event.

The committee hired unbiased and neutral referee, Syed Asadullah Aleem (former international player) to maintain an internationalstandard of the tournament. The colorful and amazing prize distribution ceremony further added to the players' jollity. It startedwith lots of cash prizes, sponsor gifts and the 3 beautifully designed trophies, Shahid Dhedhi Convenor Badminton was theChief Guest.

The Managing Committee of KC and the Badminton Sub-Committee were there with many guests and international players topresent the prizes to the Winners , runners up. DA Southend club got 3rd position trophy. TV and print media representativeswere also present on the occasion.

KC Bridge Congress 2015by Bridge Committee

The contribution of Karachi Club for the promotion of Mind Sports has been enormous and unparallel. Our Bridge ConvenorHarish Kumar Parwani and his committee recently organized “The Karachi Club Congress Pair & Team Event." As many as 32 pairsand 13 teams comprising senior members from the Bridge fraternity across the country participated in the event. lqbal Dada asenior member of the Club was the Chief Guest. The winners were awarded cash prizes and momentos by the Chief Guest,President of the club Mohammad Ayub Bawany and Honorary Secretary Mohammad Jawed Zakaria, Convenor Harish KumarParwani, were also present.

In pair event Anwar Sultan and Khalid Bin Manzur secured 1st Position while 1st Runners up Zaiullah Beg and Hamid Moinuddinand Abdul Muqeet and Wajahat Suri were 2nd Runners up. Akber Hayat and AbidBhaila were awarded the best pair of Karachi Club. In the team event Gulzar BilalTeam stood 1st while Puri Estate and Hais team secured 2nd and 3rd positionrespectively

A memorable farewell Grand Bumper FarewellQuiz Rama Show for the year ending 2015 was held on28th November at our Main Club which was attended by acapacity crowd of 3000 Members who thoroughly enjoyed the showwhich was studded with all the excitement, enjoyment, entertainmentthat lasted for nearly 3 hours.

Fabulous cash prizes were offered on every card which held everyonespellbound until the Snowball card came with a fabulous Grand & SuperBumper Prize that was equally shared by the 4 lucky winners.

As usual the ever obliging sponsors added more thrills with their generousoffers of prizes for all the winners of the cards and Lucky Draws.

Winter and love for Sea food goes hand in hand. Being a Karachiites, it is a blessingto have availability to wide variety of Sea Food. The wide range of flavor full SeaFood Menu was presented by Kitchen Committee on 8th November at KC MainLawn. The Menu covered all the heart-throb Continental style Sea Food items. Itwas really a tough selection for a sea food lover to make choice from such extensiveand mouthwatering cuisines.

The star of the night and attention grabbing item was the Tawa Fish Surmai. Thesizzling noise and irresistible smell of fried crumb fish and fried prawn balls werehard to ignore. There were range of cooking styles for all types taste lovers whether

it be fried, grilled, bar b que or gravy style. For my astonishment these lavish items were not heavy on the pocketsand falls in reasonable price range. Live Music amused the large gathering of people who were enjoying the food,winter breeze and light music.

A loads of acclamation goes to our Kitchen Committee headed by Mohammad Ashraf Timuswala and its membersfor organizing amazing food festival every month for all sort of food lovers. The events arranged by the kitchencommittee was a hit and highly appreciated by the members which is obvious from the huddle of people in every event.

24th KC PakistanITF World Ranking Tennis Tournament 2015

KC Tennis Sub-Committee organized the 24th KC ITF SeniorsWorld Ranking Tennis Tournament from 21st-27th November,where a total of 60 players participated from all over Pakistanwhile 1 Indian, Naresh Khatri & 1 Nigerian, Amodo Abiolaparticipated in this event. In all 3 Categories were conductedin the Juniors (U-11, U-13, U-17 Boys & Girls Singles) & 4Categories were conducted in the Seniors (35, 45 55 & 60Singles). 10 players from Karachi Club participated in this eventwhere Asad Ali Bhagat, Altaf Hussain, Zahid Hussain, Asif Ismail& Shahid Hussain managed to win trophies.

Asad Ali Bhagat (Sitting Convener Tennis, Former Pakistan JuniorNo.1 & Current Pakistan No. 1 Senior # 1) won the 35 Singles Category by defeating Nigerian, AmodoAbiola in a nail biting final which lasted for 2 hours in front of a Packed House, final score was 6-3, 3-6, 10-6 in the super tie break.

Asad Ali Bhagat & Reza Ali Mirza of Sind Club won the 35 Doubles Category for the 2nd time in arow by defeating Nigerian, Amodo Abiola & Muhammad Saeed 6-3, 6-3 in the final. Rashid Malik(Former Pakistan # 1 & Davis Cupper) of Lahore won the 45 Singles Category by defeating Reza AliMirza 6-3, 6-4 in the final.

Rashid Malik & Imran Ahmad of Islamabad won the 45 Doubles Category by defeatingAsif Ismail (Sitting Convenor Publication Committee) & Shahid Hussain (Tennis Coach)6-1, 6-2 in the final.

Altaf Hussain (Former Pakistan # 1) won the 55 Singles Category by defeating his younger brotherZahid Hussain 7-5, 7-5 in a close final.

Altaf Hussain & Zahid Hussain won the 55 Doubles Category by defeating Sabih Wali & RonnieDubash 6-2, 6-2 in the final. Gul Hamid of Islamabad won the 60 Singles Category by defeating SabihWali 6-7, 6-3, 10-7 in the super tie break.

KC Talent Hunt Squash Tournamentby Squash Committee

It is the deep-rooted tradition of KC to sift outthe talent, to refine and to channelize that talent to theouter flares of sporting world. A similar Talent Hunt SquashTournament was organized for the first time by Squash Committee to digout some refined squashing talent.

The Tournament was stretched to 5 days, from 2nd to 6th November. There were3 defined categories among which winning matches were played.The categorieswere Boys U-16, Boys - U-19, Men’s Open (Half Court). The fight of squashing flairswere fought amongst 36 players. It is very pleasing to see many young enthusiastcoming forth in Squash, in spite of the dilemma that squash is a less treated sportsin Pakistan.

The winners of the tournament are:Boys U-16 - WINNER - Mahveer Tai, Boys U-16 - RUNNER UP - SaifullahBoys U-19 - WINNER - Abdul Rehman, Boys U-19 - RUNNER UP - Mahveer TaiMen’s Open (Half Court) - WINNER - Kashif Khalid, Men’s Open (Half Court) - RUNNER UP - Mustafa Dada

The efforts of the winners were applauded in an extravagant ceremony in which awards were presented to thewinners. The ceremony was attended by Honorary Secretary, Mohammad Jawed Zakaria and Convenor SquashCommitee, Shahid Dhedhi.

The seminar on Allergic Asthma (Awareness program) courtesy byNovartis Pharmaceuticals was held on 6th November. Dr. Iqbal AhmedPirzada, Chest Physician Ohja Institute of Chest Diseases gave a briefintroduction on “Allergy Asthma” due to changing weather. It was veryinformative and enlightening lecture. Samir Gulzar, Convenor Health& Fitness Committee along with Sub-Committee members were alsopresent. After the event Secretary Karachi Club Mohammad JawedZakaria along with Senior Member Wahid S. Balagam presented themomentos to Dr. Iqbal Ahmed Pirzada for his valuable time.

An Interactive workshop "The Fourth Dimension" By Prof. Dr. Moiz Hussainby Publication Committee

Sunday Morning at KC on 15th November was not the same lazy and boring one yet it was energetic and exciting. The KCMembers matched their watches with the clock of Karachi Club as they all were on spot, exactly at 9:30 am. It was astonishingto see great number of people of all age groups, both males and female participating in workshop in the early morning of Sunday.

The workshop was led by the mind sciences expert Prof. Moiz and was aimed to familiarize members with the brain programmingand with conscious and subconscious mind. It was the full day event with lunch and tea intervals that gave people an excuseto mingle and coordinate with others.

A loads of appreciation goes to Prof. Moiz who explained the whole technical phenomenon of Brain frequency at much easierlevel, by giving everyday examples and by engaging in activities. Prof. Moiz trained individuals to travel between subconsciousmind in conscious state. The meditation therapies for mind relaxation was worth trying as it really worked out by simply focusingon positive aspects of mind and body.

He stressed on the positive thoughts and how it reflects you and effects the people around you. He explained that we residein 3 dimensional world and the 4th Dimension is the mysterious world of mind. Your Personality is reflection of your thoughts,whatever you will give the input to your brain (whether positive or negative), the output will reflect on your personality.

The 2 Design principles of the 4th Dimensional Workshop discussed are the gist of whole complex topic:

1. You can achieve anything for yourself and for your life by participating and practicing positive activities throughout your life.2. You can have any result by inventing the method to achieve that result that should touch, move and inspire others around you.

The 2nd design principle is more insightful as it talks about selfless efforts and welfare of others which will be fruitful for younot in this life but also hereafter. In the end an appreciation note to the Publication Committee headed Asif Ismail for theirremarkable efforts for arranging this sort of life transforming experiences throughout the year. I would like end up with lines

of Prof. Moiz that “you are wholly and solely responsible for what and who you are so stops blamingothers for your conditions”.

An Evening with Sub Committee Memberby Managing Committee

It is not just an obligation or a tradition but a delightful way to thank and appreciate our Sub-Committee members for theirinfinite support, help and volunteer services rendered throughout the year. They say that “Great things in business are neverdone by one person. They’re done by a team of people”. Thus, our Sub-Committee members are those assets who transform thevision of Conveners into reality and likewise last year our Sub-Committees organized great number of successful Entertainmentevents, Sporting Competitions and Tournament, Health Seminars, Grand events such as Tambola, Inaam Ghar, Food Festivalse.t.c. and not just events but they also took part in other club affairs such as Rules and Regulation of the Club, Security affairsand so on. Hence, it was to honor those members that Managing Committee carried on the tradition and arrange theSub-Committee Dinner on 26th November at Karachi Club (Main) Lawn, where the Honorary Secretary Mohammad JawedZakaria requested them to come on the stage and the respective Conveners presented the mementos to all those who werepresent at the Ceremony. The event was concluded with a vote of thanks from the President.

Having once decided to achieve a certain task, achieveit at all costs of tedium and distaste. The gain in self-confidenceof having accomplished a tiresome labor is immense. Arthur Helps

It was in connection with the holy monthof Muharram that Management organized“Nishan-e-Tehseen Barae Hafiz-e-Quran andMuqabala Husn-e-Qirat” on 14th November.

As many as 11 Hafiz-e-Quran, Alim and Alima were awared Gold Medals to commemorate their achievement.In Husn-e-Qirat as many as 120 children participated in 6 categories.

The management invited 3 qualified Qaris as Judges and subsequently the children recited Ayatfrom Holy Quran and their recitation was echoing in the entire Karachi Club.

At conclusion Gifts hampers were given to the following winners of the Husn-e-Qirat.
