Fishermans Wharf

Kaohsiung Fisherman's Wharf used to be a shipping port forbanana exportation to Japan. But nowadays, this area also

has been opened to the public and immediately become one

of the newest sights in Kaohsiung. It is a great place to visit at

night. The area is suitable for multi-generational families. The

food courts, theme restaurants, and pubs have replaced the

area that was previously used for exporting bananas.

Scenic spotsThe Banana Pier is located by the

Fishermans Wharf. The BananaWarehouse used to be for storing

bananas. In the 1960s, a huge amount of

bananas were exported from Kaohsiung

to Japan. As Taiwans banana trade has

decreased, the Banana Warehouse is no

longer needed.

Now, it displays the history about the

banana trade in the warehouse. It is very

interesting and worth to visit.

Kaohsiung Harbor Museum

The museum is one of the port's

historical buildings. It was built in 1914

and it original function was an officials

office. Not until the end of the Japanese

colonial, it became the Harbor Affairs

Bureau in 1943 and served as the

administrative headquarters for theKaohsiung Port. But now, it has become

a museum that displays the history of

Kaohsiung harbor.

Kaohsiung Amphibious Vehicle

An amphibious vehicle which

can be driven on land and deep inthe water provides two different

experiences at the same time,

letting tourists to experience a

feeling of on-land sailing. On the

Duck Boat, you can enjoy cruising

To remember its glorious military

history, the Glory Pier was named

after by Kaohsiung government

since it was decommissioned in2005.

Walking along the Glorious Pier,

you can also enjoy beautiful view

of Love River. The beautiful

scenery that you can see the

sunset which makes the skymingles with the sea. The Glory

Pier is a popular sight for art

exhibitions and performances

during the weekends. On the

other hand, the annual

Kaohsiung New Year parties arealso held at The Glory Pier as

well. It is an excellent sightseeing

spots for everyone to visit.

The Rose Basilica was built in 1851. It was the first

Catholic cathedral in Taiwan and it was one of three majorbasilicas in Asia.

The Rose Basilica was renovated in 1863 and became an

aesthetic tower, incorporating with Roman and Gothic styles.

It is consider as the most decorative church in Taiwan.

government every year during new years eve. It is atraditional festival of Love River, which has been combined

with various vendors and gorgeous lanterns. You can also

enjoy the 4D fireworks during this period.

Love Ferry Pier. On the other side

of the pier , there is an oldstorehouse, which contains

film industry in Taiwan particularly, but

also includes influences from abroad.On the third floor you will find a

catalogued library of films from here

more than a dozen viewing stations

equipped with TV, DVD player and

the movie in the museum. But only for

up to three hours at every viewing
