If possible, place the heavy objects in the middle of your KAMEI roof box, so that the overall payload will be distributed evenly over the loadbearing rack and the car. All packed articles must be securely tied down to prevent slipping. For sports equipment, use only specially designed carrying systems. It is important to ensure that the load does not present any obstruction to closing the KAMEI roof box, in order to prevent malfunction of the locking system. Never exceed the maximum roof load specified by the manufacturer. The maximum overall weight („gross vehicle weight“) of your vehicle must not be exceeded.

Your KAMEI roof box provides all the extra stowage space you desire - but it also demands that you adapt your driving style to the modified weight and height of your vehicle: Sensitivity to side winds will be incre-ased, when loaded, the change in the centre of gravity of your vehicle will require you to modify your cor-nering and braking habits, Depending on the roof rack, the height of the vehicle will be increased by up to 60 cm. This must always be remembered when approaching low bridges or low entrance barriers (e.g. car parks). For the driving with a roof box KAMEI recommends a top speed of 130 km/h.

THE KAMEI RACE GOLFIn historical quartet back on the road

At the end of eighties he was regarded as the fastest golf in the world: the striking red / orange / yellow stri-ped racing car of the Wiesbaden auto accessory manufacturer KAMEI. This car, in order from „rallye racing“ editor Bernd Renneisen - later racing secretary for the Automobile Club of Germany (AVD) - and KAMEI men Mira Lochman - now head of Milotec - drove directly into the hearts of viewers. On the Nürburgring-Nordschleife, the Marburger Wolfgang Wolf succeeded to establish this little golf in the middle of a Porsche pack. Also on the ring Mira Lochman outclassed the competition. Soon the Japanese model specialist Tami-ya dedicated this golf two models, including a remote-controlled scale 1:12.

In the late 1970s KAMEI had expanded its front and rear spoiler programme to numerous makes. With the accent on performance and low fuel consumption every KAMEI spoiler underwent intensive tests in the wind tunnel at VW and in some cases at Daimler Benz as well. Till now KAMEI‘s presence on the racing circuit had been limited to advertising. This changed in 1981 when they started optimizing racing tourers. With KAMEI‘s help the wind resistance factor for the Audi Coupés was reduced by 7% and the lift on the front axle brought down by 38%. The following years of intensive involvement in motor racing paid off. The expe-rience KAMEI gained here was invaluable and flowed directly into their road spoiler tuning operations.

THE KAMEI UR-KÄFERWith the first spoiler of automobile history

In the last days of the war, when the Volkswagen factory manufactured wings for Junkers, Karl Meier had also gained some experience in aircraft construction. Although he was only marginally concerned with aerodynamics at the time, this knowledge was later to play an important role in the KAMEI success sto-ry. Irritated in the early fifties by the tail weight of the VW Beetle and its unstable handling, particularly at speeds around 100 km/h – which was really pushing it in those days – Meier came up with a remedy. He constructed a „horizontal stabilizer“. Today this aerodynamic aid is known as a spoiler. To test the market for his „stabilizer“ Meier set out for the Geneva Salon in 1953.

Barred from exhibiting inside the famous gates for want of the necessary funds for entry he simply declared a few square meters of roadside in front of the Salon as his outdoor exhibition site. He was nevertheless unable to convince his contemporaries of the advantages of his strange gadget and so the original spoiler was packed away until its time was ripe. 25 years later it was hard to imagine cars without spoilers and at high speeds they were imperative. Not surprisingly, KAMEI was one of the leading manufacturers right from the start.

Since 2004 KAMEI produces different roof boxes models with the distinctive design of the Mercedes-Benz brand for the Mercedes-Benz Accessories GmbH. The scope of services for the Mercedes-Benz roof boxes lines extends beyond the production and manufacturing. This included the development of a distinctive roof boxes design in close cooperation with Mercedes-Benz as well as a specially designed tool for producing it. Since 2009 KAMEI produces exclusive roof boxes for Volkswagen Accessories Limited in the design of the manufacturer. An important part of the development of manufacturing an exclusive roof box was adapting the shape design to the various vehicle models of Volkswagen. This created a uniform design language of the vehicle and roof box. Specific ideas of color and form are developed in close consultation with Volkswa-gen. Thereby „Das Auto“ gets its perfect match „Die Dachbox“.

With the production of plastic body parts for Volkswagen of KAMEI produces different bumper covers for the original accessories range of the Wolfsburg-based automobile manufacturer. The focus of the develop-ment was a decidedly sporty off-road look for the Amarok and Touareg models. The production of the body parts is carried out according to the special design requirements of Volkswagen, which KAMEI, thanks to its extensive know-how, can implement best in the plastic thermoforming technology. Also developed KAMEI was a simple and sophisticated mounting system for easy installation by the Volkswagen dealer or from the factory.

Especially for customers who wish to install a central armrest in their MINI even after delivery, BMW deci-ded in July 2006 for the retrofit solution of the Wolfsburg-based company KAMEI. The already in the free trade available central armrest has been adapted to the needs of OEMs and is up to now successfully sold to over the original MINI accessories program. The focus of adjustments to the high security and functional requirements of BMW was a simple mounting system for easy installation without drilling through the MINI dealer.
