    A PROGRAMME FOR ALL? YES

    There is time for every

    thing, a season for every

    activity under heaven. Time

to be born and a time to die.

A time to plant and a time

to harvest. A time to kill

and a time to heal. A time to

tear down and a time to

build. A time to cry and a

time to laugh. A time to

grieve and a time to dance.

    A time to scatter stones

and a time to gather stones.

A time to embrace and a time

to turn away. A time to search

and a time to lose. A time to

keep and a time to throw

away. A time to tear and a

time to mend. A time to be

quiet and a time to speak up. A

time to love and a time to

hate. A time for war and a

    time for peace. What do

people get for all their hard

    work? I have thought about

    this in connection with the

various kinds of work God has

given people to do. God has

    made everything beautiful for

its own time. He has planted

    eternity in the human heart,

but even so, people cannot see

the whole scope of Gods work

from beginning to end. So I

    concluded that there is noth-

ing better for people than to

    be happy and enjoy them-

selves as they can. And people

should eat and drink and enjoy

the fruits of their labor, for

these are the gifts of God.And

    I know that whatever God

does is final. Nothing can be

added to it or taken from

it. Gods purpose in this is

    that people should fear Him.

    Whatever exists today and

    whatever will exist in the

    future has already existed in

the past. For God calls each

    event back in its time.

OOOOne of our great academicians (Dr. PLO

Lumumba) once said that the ladies are

simply beautiful gifts of God to man. This

seems very true perhaps we can say theydrive our lives to either success or failure,

but I get a bit confused when they say that

behind every successful man there is a

    woman thus who drives who?

LLLLooking at this from an entrepreneurial

perspective, I am convinced that both

statements above are the same and weigh

equally but different. Take for example the

rally car where the driver is guided by his

co-driver on the route to take is the same

way these beautiful gifts of God to manshows us the best ways to do business. I

remember an evening I was traveling by

road to my rural village from Nairobi and

carried a book to keep me awake through-

out the journey just in case there would be

an accident at one of the famous black spots

like Kapsoit then I would be awake to

jump out of the wreck first. Thank

God no such eventualities took place

no wonder am writing to share thiswith you. That aside, this was a book

by Dan S. Kennedy titled How to

make millions with your ideas. I have

drawn a lot from this author and per-

haps lets have a look at some of the

ways to look at business opportunities:

    (i) Product driven business:

TTTThe product itself is so unique, ap-

    pealing and promotable that it

gets sold through a variety of media to

    or through variety of markets.

    (ii) Market driven Business:

we want to purchase any home item

include the durability in its fashion,

color match, availability of space andthe light needs of that item. These

gives us an easy time in arranging the

house so that our child to be shall

have a full Kasarani with his/her toys.

Now think of a house where the sit-

ting room (15sq meters) is fully packed

with expensive furniture plus a 29

TV and a 5CD changer. The room

may be so packed that food being

served has to be passed over the elec-

tronics or you have to move furniture

in order for you to reach the cloak to

answer a simple call of nature. Some

    houses are disorganized that

    anything that drops on the

    floor/carpet can only be reached

during the monthly cleaning. Before I choose a wife, I would

give her time alone in my house

and see how neat she would ar-

range my statehouse just in case

I become the president in 2020.

If some of us cannot keep a sin-

gle room neat then theres no

need in buying them a house in

    Milimani. Examine yourself

    through your friends and listen

carefully to their comments. Aneat lady never walks alone on

the streets same to a neat house

    WWWWe give them strange

    names like Heart

sweet, Kitu whatever butmine says she never wants to

    leave home since friends and

    relatives who remain to take

care of the house will most proba-

bly rearrange her palace in a way

she doesnt like. We dont have a

home yet but she is well versed

with issues to do with home de-

    signs not forgetting color schem-

ing. Some of these things are not

taught in any school except a

    proper Mummy College. Simple

    things we do consider whenever

    HOW NEAT IS YOUR HOUSE?

HOW FAR IS UR OFFICE FROM UR HOUSE?

    the nearby estates. Think of

settling for a two bed roomed

    house that was once aban-

doned at a cost of lees than

Kshs. 7000 then sign an agree-

ment with your landlord torenovate it by yourself at a fee

    deductible from the monthly

    rent. Go ahead and redesign

    both the interior and exterior

of the house with the help of

    a professional. The only

thing you ensure is that you

    choose an estate you and

    The distance you cover from

the house to the office deter-

    mines your productivity and

    hence performance at the work

place. Consider living in a sim-

ple house that has averagelywhat you need but should be

    about thirty minutes drives

    from the office.

    Better houses and homes are

    nowadays available in town and

    ...these

    things are not

    MY IDEAL GARDEN!

A garden straight away either welcomes a visitor and turns them on

immediately setting the right mood for your day or it turns away the

visitor and turns them off. The trimming, weeding, watering, mulch-ing, top dressing and the color scheming matters a lot in any type of

garden be it a flower, kitchen garden or a vineyard. Just ensure that

your garden is designed to your taste with the help of a professional

designer . The ground leveling should be proper so that the drainage

system does not drain into the compound or sometimes into your

neighbors gate or fence. This will help you along way in avoiding

troubles/quarrels with him/her. Many of us waste a lot of time and

money solving issues with the courts or the local administration simply

because they failed to plan early before investing into their gardens.

I remember when I was grow-

ing up as a small boy, we used to play

this game famously known askalongolongo as we could assume

different roles, some could offer to be

children, then another a father then

the other would be the mother. I am

    wondering why this current gen-

eration does not practice this game.

Critics say that in this modern days

children seem to know too much,

while other critics believe that the

today child simply does not havetime to play. I tend to agree with

the latter since today even nursery

children go for holiday tuition and

its even more worrying when you

see the kind of heavy bags they

carry to school and the most inter-

4 BETTER 4 WORSE TILL DEATH ...This is the famous phrase that you

will hear whenever you attend any wedding

ceremony. When any person thinks of a wed-

ding the things that runs in their mind is a

convoy of flashy cars, the best gown, the best

suit and maybe the best wedding reception.

Now, in the current times that we are in one

would think twice before even thinking of

having a wedding, I mean with the tough

economic times even if it is the happiest dayof my life, it would take a whole battalion to

convince me to direct my hard earned money

into a one days event. I would rather put all

this money into our new home and opt for a

mass wedding which is costless but the certifi-

To me this is like fulfilling this marriage vow

For better or for worse till death do us part I

mean, why not start by having a simple wed-

ding then go to the most important part, that is

living our lives . This is the reality in life, a wed-

ding will only last a day but we will live to-

gether for the rest of our lives God willing.

Such schools of thought are confirmed by wed-

dings that takes place at our local churches, a

couple walks in during normal services and arejoined in holy matrimony. To me these are the

best weddings I have ever attended in my life, I

mean why must I budget for a 2 million wed-

ding when I know very well that I cannot af-

ford it and for those that would be willing to

Bible QuoteThe integrity of the upright will guide them,

But the perversity of the unfaithful will destroy

    them.

Riches do not profit in the day of wrath,

    But righteousness delivers from death.

The righteousness of the blameless will direct his

    way aright,

But the wicked will fall by his own wickedness.

The righteousness of the upright will deliver

    them,

But the unfaithful will be caught by their lust.

When a wicked man dies, his expectation will perish,

And the hope of the unjust perishes.

The righteous is delivered from trouble,And it comes to the wicked instead.

The hypocrite with his mouth destroys his neighbor,

But through knowledge the righteous will be delivered.

    When it goes well with the righteous, the city rejoices;

And when the wicked perish, there is jubilation.

By the blessing of the upright the city is exalted,

But it is overthrown by the mouth of the wicked.

    WWWWhen I was young

my parents made me believe that

anybody who could use a syringe

and inject one with penicillin was

actually a doctor. This applied to

all including the guy who treated

our cattle. Then on a morning

when our calf fell sick, the Dak-

tari was called so that he rescues

    the situation. Unfortunately, the

guy had run short of his penicillinso he reached for the last stock in

his the village laboratory. My fa-

    ther watched keenly perhaps he

sees even the label on the con-tainer maybe he would buy some

next time he visits the city. To his

    surprise, the container was not

labeled so he concentrated on the

contents by looking at the color.

Still it was difficult to know be-

cause exactly what it would be but

he was glad to confirm that the

medicine was either a liquid or a

paste. But he could see that the

medicine was milky almost thecolour of mayonnaise. For heav-

ens sake, the concoction did not

let go of our humble calf but it

worsened its health to a goodpercentage. The local administra-

tion wasted the case on grounds

that my dad seemed to have

known more in the village than

others so his issues were better

    solved elsewhere. Being the kind

success of this company as well as the possible publication and posting of this Maga-

zine. Their self denial so as to find time and resources for the company is practically

commendable. November 21, 2006 to date is such a long time to have maintained

professional friendship thus we can say that they form the basis of Youthful develop-

    ment in this country.

    diocese of Maseno South,

    having served the Christians

for as long as they can re-

    member. Cannon S.J.

    Owuor hails from a humble

    background in Gem Rae

(Kano - Kisumu) and is a

    family man who values edu-

cation so much so that he is

still pursuing his PhD in the-

ology yet he has seen his

    grand children. Baba Cannon

has used his good communi-cation skills to help a num-

    ber of disadvantaged members of

the society. Currently, he is also

    the Coordinator for the Inter-

    nally Displaced Persons in

    Nyanza Province. Besides, his

    development track is evident at

    St. Lukes ACK Manyatta Parish

    where he is the vicar-in-charge.

    Cannon Shadrack has made sev-

    eral linkages with his friends

abroad thus giving the Youths in

    Kisumu a number of opportuni-

    ties to explore their potentials.

Under his keen watch, ManyattaChild Development Center was

set up some years back. This is a

place that runs an education and

those in dire need of both psy-

    chophysical and psychosocial

needs. The center is managed in

    partnership between the church

    and Compassion International

    (N.G.O.). The level of growth

    that Cannon Shadrack Owuor

    has brought to these childrens

    lives from nursery, secondary,

    University to employment is

amazing; all through his spiritu-ality. God bless him.
