Before we start“Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” - Andy Warhol
Procedure1) Bring out your camera. You can use your camera phone.2) Get 2 pieces of clear cd case.3) Remove the clear part.4) Cover one side of it with masking tape5) Create marks for the sizes of the 3 sides of your kaleidoscope. For DSLR
lens – 2 by 2.5 inches. For camera phone - .5 by 2.5 inches.6) Cut them carefully. Very carefully. With a cutter. Use several but light cuts.
Until the acrylic starts to separate. 7) Cut the illustration board to the same size as your acrylic sheets.8) Form a triangle with you acrylic sheets. Then use the rubber band to hold
them together. Put at least one on each end. Don’t tighten them too much yet…
9) Slide in the illustration board sheets with the black side facing inwards.10) Tighten your rubberbands and put more if you want :D11) Now you have a kaleidoscope lens.12) Hold the kaleidoscope in front fof you camera lens. Take a photograph.
Now you have a kaleidoscopic photograph :D
Composition tips• Subjects that are angular are great• Well-lighted subjects are also more preferable
for this. Example – outdoors when it’s sunny, point the camera to light source, or light subject with good flash
• Try to stay far from your subject too• You can zoom in or black out the areas outside
the kaleidoscope if you want
Now shoot and enjoy :D
