Field Managers Report

• The field was getting slashed and bailed this week.

• There will be a further treatment for the black beetles next week.

• The bores appear to be functioning well.

• The mower has been serviced and has new bearings.

Building Works Update

• The pump behind the canteen needs replacement. Neil Giggins is following up on getting it replaced. It should be fairly inexpensive.

Committee Business:

• Gregg Voak’s GT Inspector Application was approved by the committee and will be

forwarded to AWA.

• Building works are finished and the builders handover will be Friday 10th October undertaken by the builder, Murray Tingey and Frank Jensen.

• A date was set for the KAMS busy bee, being the 22nd November 9am-12pm.

• The committee feels it is necessary for members to start to use the new shelter area for socializing rather than clogging up the pit areas with seats. The committee wishes to encourage the change of mindset of members regarding this.

General Business:

• Frank Jensen has proposed that the KAMS Christmas party be moved to Sunday 14th December, starting at 4pm. This will also be the dedication ceremony for the Ken Wansborough Pavilion. This will then go onto a twilight fly and social BBQ.

• The committee discussed the partial amendment of by-law 4.1 re: use of transmitter compound and frequency keys concerning 2.4gHz radio systems. The current wording of the first portion of the by-law reads:

Only MAAA approved aircraft radio systems are permitted at KAMS. On

arrival at the Field, all transmitters must be placed in the transmitter pound. A maximum of ten 2.4GHz radio systems may operate at any one time and the keys inserted into the separate rack provided.

The following amended wording is proposed:

Only MAAA approved aircraft radio systems are permitted at KAMS. On arrival at the field, all 36mHz transmitters must be placed in the transmitter pound and their respective frequency keys inserted into the separate rack when the radio is in operation. There is no requirement for 2.4 gHz transmitters to be placed in the transmitter pound.

Geoff Griffiths proposed the amendment. Ken Greaves seconded the amendment.

The remainder of by-law 4.1 will remain unchanged regarding 36MHz radio systems. (Refer to the end of the minutes for a full recital of by-law 4.1.)

This amendment will be placed into the November slipstream newsletter and subsequently voted on by the membership at the November General meeting.

General Business: Cont

• The whipper snipper at the field is broken and in need of replacement. Murray has been pricing a new Husqvarna 4-stroke unit, which has a quoted price of $649. Ken Heinz proposed the purchase of the new equipment. Peter Francis seconded. The meeting voted and the purchase was passed.

• Neil Giggins has had some contact with the RAFFA in Bull Creek. They wanted to come down to the field and see a display of KAMS models. It was thought this could be done on Warbirds day, March 29th. It was also thought that a static display and “show and tell” would be beneficial to be held at Bull Creek. There was interest for KAMS members to attend with their models.

• There was a problem with the recent slashing work wherein the mower was damaged by a winch line and a winch turn-around being left out in the field, which the slasher ran over. Please ensure that all equipment is removed from the outfield.

4.1 FREQUENCY CONTROL

Only MAAA approved aircraft radio systems are permitted at KAMS.On arrival at the Field,

all transmitters must be placed in the transmitter pound. A maximum of ten 2.4GHz radio systems may operate at any one time and the keys inserted into the separate rack provided.

The Keyboard system of frequency control must be used by pilots using36 MHz radio

systems.KAMS operates on 20kHz frequency spacing. Only 2” (50 mm) frequency keys

are to be used by all pilots for all transmitters, including transmitters certified for 10kHz

operation. 1” (25mm) keys are not permitted.Firstly ensure that your frequency is free

(indicated by no key in the slot) and insert your key before switching on your transmitter, or starting your engine.

If the slot you require is in use, you must wait until it is clear. If a key is left in place after a flight has ended, POLITELY ask the pilot to remove his/her key. NEVER REMOVE ANOTHER PERSONS KEY.

Remove your key as soon as possible after your flight. It is courteous to let the other person know that the frequency is clear. Place your transmitter and your key in the pound

when not flying or testing your aircraft. You may only remove your transmitter from the

Transmitter Compound when :

• (a) you leave the field, or

• (b) your key is in the board.
