You may also see it as “Kahi Loa” meaning “Oneness of Flowing Energy.” Kahi is an ancient Hawaiian shamanic energy technique. I first learned of it from The Urban Shaman, by Serge Kahili King, Ph.D., with expanded applications from my own spirit guides and angels, and the wisdom of the Big Island of Hawaii, where I lived for two years. To do Kahi, begin by centering yourself with some calming breaths or a prayer. Whatever helps you come present. Now notice where you feel a sense of overflowing energy. By breathing consciously, love in and love out, focusing on the Light and Healing Energy flowing into my heart, I will soon feel a sense of my heart being filled by Source, and overflowing with Love and Light. Place (or keep) one hand or fingers on the energy center that feels strong, and place your other hand or fingers on an area needing healing A part of you that may feel a bit empty, wounded, sad or dark. point for focusing the energy (like a 5-pointed star). Picture the energy directed like a laser beam through the focus point, to the area to heal. Kahi Energy Centers In addition to the seven major chakra energy centers (root, sexual center, power center, heart, throat, 3rd eye, crown), the Hawaiian tradition also recognizes eight additional major energy centers: The palms of the hands The soles of the feet The hips And the shoulders. The last four are known as the "four corners of the body." Thus you have a total of 15 energy centers to choose from as the area to place one hand on as the “Source.” The key is that, "You focus your attention on both hands at once while you do deep breathing," Serge King explains. "What happens in Kahi is that the focus on the hands introduces a flow of energy between them, much like the flow of electricity in a wire. ... It increases the energy of your personal energy field, and stimulates ... harmonizing the area at and between the hands." As you take slow, deep breaths, see a beam of light, a tunnel, a bridge, a circle or a rainbow connecting the two areas. You may be inspired to see a different type of sacred symbol. Trust what you see and feel. You have a direct line to Source. Feel healing, love energy running between your hands, and from your hands through your entire body. You may feel warmth or tingling in either or both areas, and flowing between them. Picture healing energy moving from the strong energy center to the area being healed. Feel that area being revitalized, cleansed, empowered, energized. Kahi Chants and Mantras To focus, I like to use a mantra or chant in addition to the visualization. My simple favorite is "Healing energy. Healing energy. Healing energy." You can say it aloud or just think it, as a mental focus point. Another option is to use the chant provided in The Urban Shaman: "Be aware, be free, be focused, be here, be loved, be strong, be healed."

You may also change that to: "I am aware. I am free. I am focused. I am here. I am loved. I am strong. I am healed." Or chant or focus inwardly on: “One” or “Oneness.” “Divine Flow.” Or use any other chant or mantra that feels good to you. Or none at all. Keep focusing on your breath, your chant or mantra, and seeing the light between the two areas. Continue for several minutes with clear focus. Stop when the area feels healed or you feel done. When you are done doing Kahi on one area, you may wish to do Kahi on another area that needs healing, to take advantage of the energy you have already raised and your clear focused state. Or you may feel complete. Trust your sense on this. Kahi to Heal Others

READ SELF-PROTECTION NOTE ON THE NEXT PAGE FIRST. You can also do Kahi on another person, an animal or even a plant, as healing energy work. Ask permission from the recipient or their Highest Self first. (I have never known a Higher Self to refuse healing, in the 33 years I’ve been in the healing field but it is still polite and good form to ask.) To do Kahi for someone else, you begin as if you are doing Kahi on yourself, getting the energy strong in at least 1 energy center, choosing that center and then one hand stays on that center. The other hand instead of being on your own body, will be held OUTWARD to direct energy toward the person (or animal) you are beaming healing energy toward. You can also use the fingertips. Picture the circle, the ribbon, the tunnel, the infinite sphere of healing light. See the recipient as glowing, being filled with healing light and smiling, feeling wonderful. J

NOTE: Self-Protection Techniques IMPORTANT! Before you lay hands on or run energy with someone else: 1. Put up a shield or bubble of protective light around you. White is always a safe, neutral color to use, but feel free to use whatever feels best for you at the time. 2. Ground yourself. 3. Draw healing energy up from the Earth, down from the Sky, into you from Spirit, and out into them. Do NOT deplete your personal energy by giving it to them. This is a common, natural mistake among people who begin such energy work. Pull (or welcome) healing energy into yourself first and out into them, then push their sickness or dark energy NOT INTO YOU, BUT INTO THE EARTH OR UP TO HEAVEN/GOD. When done properly, the healer will also be healed during any healing session. Note: There are advanced shamanic extraction healing methods in which the shaman does absorb the sickness and heals it within his or her own body. But this is only for very advanced shamanic healers. Do NOT attempt this. 4. You can also picture little Earth globes as filters on your hands, or just visualize and invoke the Earth to serve as a filter between you and the recipient. 5. Pay attention to your own energy before, during and after any healing session. Do not attempt to heal someone if you are feeling weak or vulnerable. If you begin to feel depleted during the session, put up healing white (or green, or whatever color feels right to you) light around yourself immediately and stop the technique until you feel strong. If you find you are frequently weakened after doing any healing technique, you are probably not doing it in a safe, healthy way and we highly recommend you get additional live energywork training. Consult with a shaman, Reiki Master, Kahi (Loa) practitioner or other energy work professional before resuming healing work. If interested in Reiki Master training, see: www.MysticLightReiki.com Kahi for Species, Places or the World My guides and angels taught me that Kahi can also be used in a more global context. Similar to how you would do Kahi for another person, or animal, you have one hand on your source energy center, overflowing, and you direct with your other hand outward to either a species (such as the wolves, dolphins, whales, polar bears)…

Or you can direct to a particular place that has been hit by a disaster or that needs more positive energy (such as a country)… Or you can even direct Kahi to the whole world. If you are directing to the whole world, you can keep the hand outward with the intention and knowingness that the energy is going where it can be the most useful, or you can place the other hand on the ground or floor and direct it downward, to Mother Earth. Mental Kahi If for any reason it is not practical to actually lay your hands on yourself or someone else, you can do Kahi mentally by just picturing the energy flow. Try this while driving, for example, or when you are in a situation in which it would be inappropriate to touch yourself or a friend. I have found Kahi to be extremely effective at removing physical blocks and emotional blocks that manifest physically - healing headaches, relieving stomach tension. It also strengthens my power, and heals myself and others. Kahi can also easily be combined with Reiki and other healing energywork. May you be blessed with oneness.
