Why do we need a booster?

The ability to offer compressed air at various pressures makes itone of the most versatile energy sources available. Special applications require specifically tailored solutions in order toachieve optimum efficiency. Boosters are ideal for applications such as PET container pro-duction for example, where compressed air is required at a higherpressure than the standard works or control air at particularpoints in the manufacturing process. In such instances, it is moreeconomical to use the existing works air and boost it to the higherpressure with a small local compressor, rather than to operatethe whole compressed air system at the higher pressure.Regulating the pressure of a high pressure network to suit low-pressure applications (which account for most air usage) issimply a waste of money.

KAESER offers a comprehensive range of high-performance reciprocating compressors that are able to boost compressed airfrom a screw compressor up to pressures as high as 45 bar(g).These machines are perfectly matched for use with KAESERKOMPRESSOREN’s extensive range of screw compressors andSIGMA PET Air systems.

KAESER compressorblockDesigned and manufactured byKAESER, the high-pressure com-pressor blocks are available as two orthree cylinder models and operate atlow speed to ensure years of reliableand efficient service.

Precision cylinderEvery KAESER booster is equippedwith super-precision cylinders, eachfinished by a special process toensure minimum oil consumption andnegligible wear for maximumdurability.

Low temperaturesThree-cylinder models are equippedwith a fan-assisted after-cooler toensure lowest possible compressed airoutlet temperatures. A water-cooledafter-cooler version is available toachieve even lower “Delta T” results.

Premium efficiency motorHigh efficiency CEMEP EFF1 motorsconsume less power for greater outputand are standard throughout the rangeof KAESER compressors. Their lowoperating temperature is an addedadvantage, especially in environmentswith a high ambient temperature.

Select the bestIt is not uncommon for a booster to achieve a maximum pressure of 40 bar, but this once standard figure can now only be considered as second best. KAESER booster systems are in aclass of their own however, as they are the product of decades of experience in compressorsystem design and guarantee continuous delivery at 45 bar.

Continuous research anddevelopment KAESER KOMPRESSOREN’s strategy ofcontinuous research and developmentensures that every product providesexceptional performance and reliability.KAESER’s wide range of boosters forexample, features the very latestinnovations in reciprocating compressor technology. These include newly designed compressor blocks with oil pumps and a highefficiency cooler, both of which areessential for optimised high pressuresystem operation. In addition, designdetails such as pressurised oil lubrication and intensive cylinder cooling allow up to 100 percent duty cycles.

Versatile Range

N 252 G to N 502 G, air-cooled

Low maintenance = Savings

The combination of the innovativeforced lubrication system, precisionmachining and high qualitycomponents ensures minimal maintenance requirement.

Efficient air cooler

Highly efficient and maintenance-free, the cooler on two-cylindercompressors achieves very lowcompressed air discharge temperatures.

Anti-vibration mounts

For vibration-free and quietoperation the machine can bemounted either on rubber feet 1 ...

Gas compression

Upon request, modified versionsof N-series systems are availablefor compression of nitrogen andhelium.

Premium efficiency motor

Eff1-rated motors consume lesspower for greater output and provide outstanding efficiency.

Ensured safety

Oil pressure, cylinder head temperatures and air dischargetemperatures are continuouslymonitored on models N 252 G toN 1401 G. The safety shut-downsequence is initiated via alarmsignals.

Start-Control

The ‘Start Control’ provides reliable booster monitoring andcontrol and also reduces thestarting load.

Manual belt tensioning

Quick and easy adjustmentmaintains optimum power transmission on single- and two-cylinder boosters.

Optimum lubrication

Equipped with an oil pump andoil filters, the new continuous oilfiltration system available forafter-cooler models N 252 G toN 1401 G extends the oil changeinterval to 2000 operating hours.

Automatic belt tensioning

On models N 753 G toN 1401 G constant spring pressure on the motor swing-frame keeps the drive belt at thecorrect tension to ensure virtuallymaintenance-free power transmission.

Energy costs

Low demandThe smaller models in this range are best suited toapplications where low volumes of air are neededat up to 40 bar pressure. These compressors areequipped with one- or two-cylinder compressorblocks and are driven by high efficiency motorswith up to 4 kW capacity. The quality of theseunits is second to none as all compressor blocksare designed, manufactured and assembled byKAESER.

Medium to large demandWhen greater volumes of air are needed at pressures upto 45 bar then the larger of the KAESER booster modelsare the natural choice. The core of these “power houses”is the high-precision, two- or three-cylinder compressorblock with specially finished high quality cylinders andpremium efficiency Eff1 motors providing capacities upto 45 kW. The manual (two-cylinder models) or automatic drive belt tensioning systems (three-cylindermodels) ensure constant efficient power transmission forreliable and economic operation.

According to application, air-cooled or water-cooledafter-cooler versions are available (N 253 G – N 502only air-cooled, from N 753 G air- or water-cooled after-cooler).

Air-cooled versions are equipped with a separate fan-assisted after-cooler to keep the temperature differentialbetween the inlet and compressed air (∆T) within closetolerances.

To ensure optimum cooling performance with a ∆T valueof only approximately 5 K even at high ambient tem-peratures, models N 753 to N 2001 can be equippedwith a water-cooled compressed air after-cooler.
