floating communities as
to physical structures,
people’s way of living, and
socio-economic status of the
locale (Hughes, 2011;
Hoogervorst, 2012; Keskinen,
2006; Kusliansjah &
Suriansyah, 2013; Mathen,
2012; Noor, 2014; Merrington,
2004; Ko, 2015).

Critical Habitat and Eco-
tourism Area) where the floating
community is located, is
currently a critical issue to
land reclamation.
Communities in the surroundings were relocated. But some members of
the relocated communities opted to return in the floating community.
The floating community is characterized by insecurities that posits
homelessness, poverty, and threats to health, natural disasters and
food security.

The vulnerable sectors such as
children, elderly and women (Jackson
1994) face threats in the normal life
and what more when disastrous events
come to hand?
Objective: to articulate the experiences
of women who are vulnerable to natural
and man-made hazards, economically
insecure, and homeless.
