These arethe market demands for systems for themanufacturing of panels from wood plasticcomposites.PALLMANN offers, together with competentpartners, EPS and TPS technically maturedsystems with economically convincingcapacities. Our goal during the developmentof P-LINE™ :To give our customers the possibility to eco-nomically produce the highest quality panelwith our combined know-how in processingtechnology.

Three essential processing steps characterizethe technology of P-LINE™:

• Palltrusion™ - Manufacturing of woodplastic composites (WPC) with thePALLTRUDER ®.

• Scattering – of the WPC by means of aprecision scattering machine with a rotatingbrush system -P-SCATT .

• Pressing – and calendering of the panel material with double belt press technology- P-FIX .

P-LINE™ systems manufacture panels with awidth of 1200 mm to 2200 mm with a panelthickness of 2 mm to 20 mm.Production capacities will be laid out accordingto customers' material, specifications and re-quirements.

Palltrusion - Technology

PALLMANN has set new standards in the pro-duction of wood plastic composites with thedevelopment of the PALLTRUDER ®.An improved product quality, higher throughputrate and a broad processing range characterizePalltrusion™ technology.

The PALLTRUDER ® produces an optimumend product: Granules with reproducible qualityaffecting a wide material spectrum – at lowcost.

Fibers from natural materials – especially woodflour, plastic chips, fibers or powders as wellas lubricants and other additives are equallymetered into the PALLTRUDER ®.Frictional heat and high pressure, produced bya screw ending in a special pressure disc workthe plastic into the natural fibers.

Rotating knives at the outside diameter of adie cut the protruding material into free flowinggranules - PALLWOOD .

The mixing ratio, the type of plastic and thenatural fibers as well as their moisture contentare decisive for the throughput rate to beachieved by the system.

The effectiveness of the PALLTRUDER ® isimproved by the integration of intelligent,gravimetrical sensor technology. The quality ofthe granules produced is kept constant by thestabilization of the mass throughput.

The PALLTRUDER ® preferably processesmaterial with a moisture content of up to 8percent. Steam arising in the process is directedthrough a filter unit into the atmosphere by avacuum device. Fines separated are auto-matically re-introduced into the process.The moisture content of the granules producedis below 1 percent.

Scattering and P-Fix Double BeltPress Technology

Scattering technology from EPS and TPS isused to distribute the PALLWOOD onto thelower belt of a double belt press.With the help of the stiff doctor blade, the"pockets" of the scattering roller are filled withmaterial. After a quarter rotation counterclockwise, the material is brushed out by thebrush-off roller, also rotating counter clockwise,and with the centrifugal force through the maskwith the sliding plane, and simultaneously, it isevenly distributed onto the bypassing carrier.

The economically efficient and high qualityproduction of panel material from wood plasticcomposites cannot be achieved withoutautomation. Therefore our scope of supplycontains all relevant components:

• Complete line automation for reproducible production at high quality and low cost

• Centralized operation

Low initial investment, minimized spacerequirement with an increase in product quality.These are the arguments that speak forP-LINE™.

For the P-FIX -System two reinforced thermallystable coated belts (Glass + Teflon) arearranged horizontally one on top of the other.

The extended lower belt is transporting theWPC-granules which are applied by theP-SCATT scattering machine. The backsideof the belts are in contact with heating andcooling platens. While the lower platens aremounted rigidly, the upper platens are movingin vertical direction together with the entireupper belt in order to create a gap accordingto the required thickness of material. One ormore pairs of calibrating nip rolls are mountedbetween the heating and the cooling zone.
