What do Teachers need to know?1. The difference between High blood sugar /low blood sugar

and what to do.• What to expect with High blood sugar : the child maybe

sleepy, in lala land and often very thirsty and need to go to the bathroom a lot.

• High blood sugar is treated by giving more insulin. • What to expect with low blood sugar : the child will act

sleepy and are often hungry and shaky.• Low blood sugar should be treated immediately! Give the

child simple sugars such as glucose tablets, fruit juice or regular soda.

3. Teacher should also know that kids with diabetes don’t want to be different.

4. Teachers should NEVER deny a child with diabetes request for water or a blood sugar test.
