Aristotle 384 BC Quality Assurance
Aristotle, the famous Greek philosopher, would have made a great quality professional
Habits are learned behaviors, which can become automatic after enough repetition. Habits can also be either good or bad
In every aspect of my life, I’ve surrounded myself with people who understand…
Quality is a principle not a mantra….It’s an imperative, not a choice

It’s a good thing that Batman and Robin were the dynamic crime-fighting duo they were and clearly had done a pre-analysis of the situation
They were equipped with just the right Tools, Processes, and Procedures necessary to get themselves out of, yet another jam and save the day….
Our Caped Crusader and Boy Wonder seemed to have a Pro-active method of establishing they were capable of producing a product or deliverable that was error or defect free and kept them out of “situations”….
Or did they??
Alfred …aka Quality Assurance
Reason the Batmobile was always ready to go
Shark Repellant was on-hand
Utility Belts were equipped
Tools necessary to fight-crime
Time-management issues
Saved Bruce and helped him rally against the League of Shadows
Helped them know their limits
Quality Assurance Measures
Taking Action to increase the effectiveness and efficiencies of the policies, processes and procedures of the performing organization (dynamic duo)… which provided benefits to the stakeholders (Gotham City)
Recommending Corrective actions immediately
Validated the effectiveness of quality standards and processes and updated to meet requirements (new tools on the batcoptor, batmobile, utility belts)
Performed Quality Control – Measured results to determine if they complied with standards
If you are good at Project Management you understand that QA has value
QA complements project management – both disciplines address the importance of….
◦ Customer satisfaction – the project MUST produce what it said it would produce and satisfy real needs
◦ Prevention over Inspection – the cost of preventing mistakes is generally less expensive than the cost of correcting them
◦ Management responsibility – we need the entire team, but as leaders we take on a much larger role
◦ Continuous improvement – The “Plan-do-check-Act” cycle is the basis for QA and also improves Project Management
Batman received the glory, but Alfred ensured the Quality of the end product for the citizens of Gotham
As PMs, we sometimes receive the glory when everything comes off without a hitch.. The project is delivered on scope, within budget, on time with minimal defects.
However, our partnership with QA is what makes it all possible:
You make “Fit for Purpose” and “Right the First Time” a priority and a focus
We find ourselves in a daily battle against “crime” like scope creep or other issues and it is you who help us keep Quality on the forefront
Everyone likes to be the hero when a project is going well Nobody wants the finger pointed their way when there is
shark infested water and it is time to jump in An effective partnership between QA and PM can keep the
waters clear so the project can move forward and deliver the expectations to the client.
Without you, we’d be just another crime fighter with an empty utility belt, unprepared to take on the challenges of our projects
