What is the Junior Law Enforcement Academy? The Junior Law Enforcement Academy is designed to provide young local citizens of Chesterfield Township with a hands on learning experience in the law enforcement profession. Students will attend classroom sessions with lectures, role-plays and demonstrations by law enforcement officers, firefighters and other first responders in the community. Who can Attend? The Junior Law Enforcement Academy is offered at no charge and open to middle school aged students (6th-8th grade). Participants must complete and turn in: Junior Law Enforcement Academy application A letter of recommendation signed and sealed by a teacher in his or her school. Selected applicants will be notified in writing by the Chief of Police. Applications are due May 24, 2017 What To Expect The Junior Law Enforcement Academy will be hands on with equipment that is used every day in the field. Goals of the Junior Law Enforcement Academy?

1. To increase understanding of Law

Enforcement through education and

interaction with the police department.

2. Provide positive interaction with

department staff and to educate youth

about the challenges and responsibility

of Law Enforcement.

3. Create and develop responsible well

informed youth citizens.

4. Build lasting and productive

partnerships between the Chesterfield

Township Police and the youths in our

community.

How To Apply for the Junior Law Enforcement Academy

You may use the form provided to apply for

the Chesterfield Township Police Junior Law

Enforcement Academy. Extra copies can be

obtained from School Liaison Officer

DePape or downloaded directly via our

website at www.chesterfieldpolice.org

The Chesterfield Township Police Junior Law

Enforcement Academy is sponsored by the

‘Friends of Chesterfield Police’ organization.

How Long Is The Academy?

The Academy class will meet Mon- Fri,

starting June 19th-30th from 9 a.m.-3 p.m.

Classes will take place at the Chesterfield

Township Police Department, located at

46525 Continental Dr, except for occasional

off site classes.

June 30th will consist of a graduation

ceremony, which is open for family

members to attend.

Students will be provided with a Junior Law

Enforcement Academy uniform (t-shirt and

shorts).
