Provincial law for equality and the promotion of women (8th march 2010, article 10)

• Every committee and board nominated by the provincial parlament or however related to the public sector must have a balanced gender ratio

• Provincial laws and resolutions have to be formulated suitable for genders

• The official institute of statistics creates annual reports on the gender situation in politics and in the public sector

Provincial advisory council for equal opportunities(since 1988)

• Exists only in South Tyrol (primary legislative authority)

• The objective of the advisory council (consisting of 15 female mebers) is to represent the economic, cultural and

social interests of women and to realise the equality of men and women in the community

• It is elected by different organizations (parties, labour unions, economic, social and cultural organizations)

• One female member of the provincial government is member of the advisory council

• The advisory council acts as an expert witness on outlines of laws regarding explicit the interests of women

• Works out annual reports regarding the situation and position of women in an economic, social and political context

• Promotes the role of women and creates general awareness for their issues organizing conferences and meetings

• It is allowed to ask the government for any information on the composition of boards and committees and on the execution of laws regarding the explicit interests of women

• Every female member of SVP is member of the FM as long as she confesses to the principles of the feminist movement

• SVP feminist movement shows solidar committment for women‘s issues

• The vision of the feminist movement are equal rights and equal opportunities for men and women in family, work, comunity and politics.

The 25%-rule in the statute of SVP

• For every list of candidates, 25% of the candidates must be women

• The feminist movement must be informed 30 days in advance of the election in order to nominate female candidates if the 25% could not be reached

• The chairman (and chairwomen) of SVP and it‘s suborgaisations has a vice-chairman and a vice-chairwomen
