Parents

Anton’s mother is Filipino and her parents had raised her to be a Catholic due to the cultural and religious beliefs of the Philippines during their time.

Anton’s father is half Filipino and half

Spanish (through his paternal side). Both his

parents taught his father to be a Catholic

– especially his grandfather because his grandfather came

from Barcelona, Spain (where the cultural

belief was strictly Catholicism)

Early YearsAt the age of 1, Anton had celebrated his baptism.

At the age of 6, Anton had celebrated his first communion ★.

From ages 6 to 13, Anton had attended Sunday Catechism Classes with his peers, such as Mikel. These Catechism classes would be conducted to teach children about the lessons of the bible.

EducationAnton has been educated at the International School of Manila (ISM) since the first grade. However, he went to school abroad during his fourth grade at New York, United States. He did not like studying there because he would suffer from being homesick and moved back to ISM in the fifth grade.

Education has not played a significant role in his religious background. However, the schools that Anton has attended have never preached any religion. In fact, they tend to question religion in classes such as Biology and World Religions.

FriendshipsMost of Anton’s best friends have been

friends with him for 10 or more years and have grown up in the same religious

culture as he has in the Philippines. Today however, half of his friends remain Catholic

while some have chosen to question the existence of God and have turned to

become Atheists. Notably, his relationship with his friends have not been affected by

their differing religious beliefs.

PresentAt present day, Anton still follows the same

Catholic beliefs that he has been taught during his childhood.

He tries to pray everyday to help him reflect. He also goes to mass every

Sundays.

SummaryIf I were in his shoe, and experienced his

experiences, I would still remain Catholic. If I had two devout Catholic parents, I would probably be influenced by them from my childhood. Also, being baptised from the beginning would affect me a lot. In fact, baptism actually fixed my belief of the religion, too. Also, just like Anton, I have some friends who are theism, therefore I would be influenced by them and remain Catholic.
