Two new faces will be representing the Chamber and its members starting this June . We are excited to welcome Kristie Maravalli to the newly expanded role of Director of Membership and we say hello to Sue Nilsson in the new role of Member Benefits and Programs Manager . Kristie comes to us from Shaker Heights, Ohio, from a previous 14-year position of Head Woman’s Basketball Coach at John Carroll University in Cleveland Heights, Ohio . She by no means is a stranger to the Quiet Resorts area, as she has owned a home in Sea Colony for many years . And… according to Chamber Executive Director David Martin, Kristie will make an impact here . “The mainstay of NCAA athletics is recruiting students and their families to your program, he said . Kristie has spent her career in member service and promotions in a way that far surpasses a level of selling a product or a one-time transaction . She knows how to build relationships . Her talent for public speaking, team building and marketing opportunities will continue to take the Chamber in a more member-focused and networking-driven direction .” “The Chamber’s focus needs to be first and foremost on membership value”, Martin said . How we support, promote and create opportunities for our membership through marketing, creative commerce-driven events, free educational programs and business driven advocacy will influence bottom-lines and member success .” This brings us to a familiar face to many Chamber members… Sue Nilsson . The new role of Member Benefits and Programs Manager will create opportunities for our members and make a Chamber membership even more valuable . Sue has a long history of marketing expertise and community involvement . Originally from the Washington D .C . area, Sue was a marketing professional at both R .H . Donnelly and Bell Atlantic where she specialized in marketing research and strategic planning . She also owned her own marketing research firm that conducted focus groups and pro-vided other marketing services . A long-time Meals-on-Wheels volunteer, she joined the staff of CHEER several years ago to manage the program for them in lower Sussex County . She previously owned the Coastal Gourmet Shoppe in Ocean View and it was during that experience she first became involved with the Chamber . She was the Chamber’s 2008 Ambassador of the Year and is currently the president of the Selbyville Public Library Board of Commissioners . Sue will have an impact on how we present memberships and bring more value to being a part of the Chamber,” Martin said . “And, as a Selbyville resident, she will also increase our reach and involvement in our inland towns .” The very talented Jennifer Idzi remains in the areas of Media, Design and Member Relations and will continue to impact the Chamber’s marketing, design and branding initiatives . As her work on the NEW 2013/14 Visitors Guide shows… the Quiet Resorts keep looking better and better! So as the busy summer travel season begins and roads and beaches start to seem a little “less quiet”, some new faces join some familiar ones… sure to take your Chamber to new places .

Wow, what a day! The final count of the 24th Annual Ocean to Bay Bike Tour was well over 1,900 . . . a major growth from 2012 . Cyclists enjoyed a scenic ride through our beautiful area including the countryside, beach towns, bays and parks . While apprehen-sions about the weather kept the cyclists wondering, the morning dried out just in time for a great ride with perfect temperatures .

The event wouldn’t have been possible without the continued support from the following local businesses . A huge “thank you” to our sponsors!

While members strolled in from the Golf n’ Gab, other joined us straight from the office . Nearly 70 members mixed, mingled and networked at the evenings After Hours, while enjoying light fare from Cripple Creek Golf and Country Club .
