This is Fr. Selvaraj Selladurai, a priest of the Diocese of Gary. I was born and raised in southern India in the state of Ta-

milnadu (Madras). I have my Mom still living and my Dad is deceased. I have three brothers who are all married having

their own families. After completing my Seminary education I was ordained a priest in 1985 in India. I completed my

Ph.D. in Guidance Counseling Psychology at De LaSalle University in Philippines. After completing some Post-Doctoral

programs at Loyola University, Chicago, in 2000 I have been serving in the Diocese of Gary. Currently, I am a resident

priest at Sacred Heart Parish. It is a beautiful opportunity for me to experience the Catholic community in Whiting. I am

delighted to be of any help that I can offer to this community while I am residing here. I would like to thank sincerely Fr.

Thursday June 27th 6-8:30 p.m. St. John the Baptist Rosary Society invites all area women to an Evening of Reflection with presenter Sr. Joyce Diltz, PHJC on The Importance of Mary in Our Lives. This event will be held at SJB in the Mural Room. A light supper will be served, so RSVP to Joyce (219) 922 8413 , joyce6333@att.net by June 20. There is no charge but a free will offering will benefit SoJourner Truth House.

Pleas join us Saturday June 15th at 9:00 am to 1:00 p.m. work on the out-

side of the Sacred Heart Campus. We need to have help with painting,

cleaning trash out of bushes and other light maintenance. Please

consider giving of your time as a “good steward of God’s varied grace.”

Novena to the Sacred Heart of Jesus

Our Novena will begin on June 19th and conclude June 27th. We would like to have 9

host families for the Novena, meaning that a small statue of the Sacred Heart of Jesus

will travel from house to house and the Novena will be recited with the host family.

On Saturday June 29th 8:00 a.m.—1:00 p.m. we will be holding another Garage Sale .

We are accepting donations of gently used items . As well as Volunteers please find a

sign up sheet in the back of the church.

Sister Ann Catherine Returns!

Thursday, July 20 there will be a reception for the former Sister Ann

Catherine who taught at Sacred Heart School beginning in 1956. Today

she is Beverly McGovern, still teaching and tutoring, and has put a visit to

Sacred Heart and its people on her "Bucket List." Please come visit in

the Rose Room from 11:30 to 1p.m. Any old photos or ques-

Sacred Heart will be in the Whiting 4th of July Parade. We are in need of walk-

ers in the parade as well as decorators for the float. Do any parishioners have a

flat bed trailer that we could use for the day that a pickup truck can pull? That

would be nice so people that are unable to walk the parade route can be in the

parade as well! Please sign up at the back of Church.
