We can be very thankful that we have this opportunity and that we understand the preparations that need to be made by us individually so that we are not spectators but rather partakers as the bride of Christ. AUSTRALIA DISTRICT NEWS My dear Brothers and Sisters, As all the countries in our district are Member States of the Commonwealth of Nations, it is perhaps no surprise that the recent very public wedding in the British royal family created so much interest in our part of the world. With the aid of modern technology, the events that took place half way around the world were witnessed live by many interested individuals who undoubtedly felt part of the proceedings. The event was the topic of discussion for days afterwards with some speaking as though they had been present in the church where the marriage blessing was bestowed. Others were rather coy about their interest in the event and yet others were adamant that they had not taken the slightest notice of either the lead up to the event nor the event itself. Naturally, in places in our vast district there would also be some who had no idea of the event or its significance. This could also be seen as a picture of our time as we await our royal wedding day when the Lord returns as the "bridegroom". When He does return it will be the fulfillment of His promise "I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also". (John 14:3) The Lord Jesus gave understanding to His disciples regarding the "signs of His coming" (see Matthew 24; Mark 13; Luke 21) and even though this information is readily available today, it is not considered relevant by many. The lead up to the great event of the return of the Lord Jesus is of varying interest to people today. For some, it is of absolutely no interest, for others there is a mild fascination in this "message" but only when this does not interfere with other priorities and for another group it is the focus of their life and a longed for event which they want to be part of at all costs. Seventy five years ago the New Apostolic Church built its first capital city church in Australia in Windsor, Brisbane. The Windsor congregation had been established some years prior, when Brother Otto Gerke (later District Apostle Gerke) was ordained a Deacon andheld Divine Services in the home of the Steckelbruck family. After a number of years the congregation outgrew both the house and ahired hall, and so the approval was given for a church to be built. The land was situated on a main road in Brisbane, today known asLutwyche Road, which was even then a well travelled road as it was the main arterial road linking all the Queensland towns and citiesnorth of Brisbane.

The building was constructed at a time when there was a shortage of almost all types of building materials. Despite this, a church ofimpressive design and proportions for its time was built. A great deal of effort and a lot of sacrifice by the members of the church of thattime together with the support and assistance of many local individuals and businesses resulted in the completion of the church buildingat the end of 1935.

On 5 January 1936 the church was dedicated to the honour and glory of God and has served the members of the New Apostolic Churchand the community of the inner northern suburbs as a place of worship since then. The church building still serves as the home of the"Windsor" congregation, although the church is actually located in the suburb of Lutwyche.

District Apostle Andersen, Apostle Williams,Bishop Green and many previous rectors and members were present, and enjoyed hearing recollections of days gone by.

District Apostle Andersen conducted the Divine Service on Sunday morning which was again attended by a number of formermembers of the congregation. During the service District Apostle Andersen sealed the congregation's youngest member, JaiDargusch. After service the congregation enjoyed lunch together at the rear of the church building.

District Apostle Andersen visits Papua New Guinea

On Sunday 27 February District Apostle Andrew Andersen visited the Mount Hagen congregation, the home congregation of BishopJoseph Yasi. Mount Hagen is the capital city of the highland region of Papua New Guinea and the country’s third largest city. Anenthusiastic and expectant congregation filled our church with their singing as well as with their joy. It had been some years sincethe District Apostle had last visited there. He had worked there extensively in the early years when the church was first introducedto the people of this region. Since then the work has grown throughout the highlands and there are numerous congregations andmembers who are cared for by faithful New Apostolic ministers.

After the service a fellowship lunch was enjoyed by all and was followed by a musical presentationfrom the Youth for the guests and congregation. Report on the Asian Youth ConventionExcerpt from a report written by Sabrina Kohler:

Four Australian youth attended the inaugural Asian Youth Day held in Jakarta, Indonesia over the first weekend of April. Almost 2000youth from countries across South East Asia joined in the festivities with incredible enthusiasm and zeal. The motto for the weekend was"We Are One". Saturday was filled with group activities, and culminated in all youth being invited to learn to play the Angklung, thenational instrument of Indonesia. The evening was filled with performances from each of the nations and Indonesian districts present.Colourful costumes abounded, as these were conveyed through song and dance.

Sunday morning there was a sombre atmosphere in the air. This would be the first time some youth had experienced the Chief Apostletaking a service in person. The Chief Apostle served with a text word from Matthew 13:16. "But blessed are your eyes for they see andyour ears for they hear". The Chief Apostle encouraged us to love everybody, even those who act a bit "strangely". So often we arecaught up in our differences to others. It was further suggested we pray morning and night, to maintain oneness with God and with eachother.

Despite the joyful blessings we had received, there was sadness in the air following the service. The long anticipated weekend woulddraw to an all too soon close. With friendships flourishing, and connections consolidating, the weekend ended, but it lives on in our memories.

The girls especially enjoyed being pampered at the DaySpa, where they were able to have a manicure, followed by a makeup session and some jewellery making. The highlight of the day wasthe visit from a Police Dog Handler, who kept both children and parents captivated with his explanations and demonstrations of workingwith a police dog.
