Critique June 14, 2018

Critique, continued on pg.3

Bard Stachow - Lovely little piece, the deep shadows are beautiful. Perhaps it could use a little more drama, darken the background.Whichflower is thestar, which supports. Create drama with a focal point.

Ada Wong - Lovely atmosphere. The foggy bit evokes mystery. You could put more detail in the right side.

Helen Davies - I love the left side and adventurous line, and the detail in the foreground. You have danced across it with the salt technique, the composi-tion zig zags. I do not think it needs anything.

Seraya Smit - I like the bold frame on a tiny piece. I see a happy man, you have to make it look like a smile. Perhaps an opening in the waterfall, or perhaps the waterfall comes over a bit on the right side.

Sharon Bongers - Good to see the bird in horizontal.

Ruth Baker Bailey - This is lovely, a nice pyramid composition. Nice lyri-cal line with pen. Decide which petal comes forward

David Nash - I do like the background shapes, very nice. It's really hard to do what you are doing here.Richard St Amant - Leaves - the com-

position is interesting. It doesn't have a focal point. I would put some really dark darks in the lower left.

Keith Nunas - Interesting. The peaceful-ness that you create is wonderful. It is balancedandflowswithwarmcolors.Nothing critical.

Summer, 2018 Edmonton Art Club Page 3

Linda Nelson - Very nice. I like the edges. They need to have a reason. I need a hint about what that plant is. If you just want to play try a clear sheet over it, try contrast, darks, and crisper edges. I love the softness and delicate-ness.

Frances Hessels - Beautiful. I bow to you. Her gaze is good, well done. Have her looking at something when you hang it.

Mohamed Hirji - It looks like a fresco. There is nothing wrong with this, you are so bold in the foreground. Perhaps the sky could have yellow instead of blue, paint it white and see how it feels.

Myrna Wilkinson - Lovely little piece, you want to get lost in it. Some drama would be nice, you could use brush strokes, a shaft of light. The grassy area could be brought out a bit, or darkening where the cliff goes in.

Johanne Septou - I would take the con-trast out, let the animal dominate.

Con’t. critique June 14, 2018

Gail Farewell - I really like paintings where light is in the centre. Great that it is crisp and graphic, all shapes are interesting. I don't see anything wrong.

Rhea Jansen - portraits are not easy in watercolour. I think I wouldn't add anything, it works, you have enough detail in the sleeve.
