A lot has changed in 90 years. Ninety years ago, a group of concerned businesses met in Duluth to work together on workplace safety. Today, we have a well developed safety system that includes everything from Minnesota OSHA and their MnSTAR and MnSHARP programs to associations of safety professionals to emerging efforts like Total Worker Health. Ninety years ago, horseless carriages were still quite new. Today, we have almost as many vehicles as people. The vehicles are packed with safety equipment and soon will be driving themselves. Ninety years ago, electricity wasn't available in every part of our state. Today, we use battery powered smoke detectors and carbon monoxide detectors to help make our homes safer. When you look back, it's hard to imagine how it was then versus how it is now.
