OBLIGACIÓN DE LA MISA DOMINICAL “Recordamos las muchas veces que vemos a Jesús observando el sábado yendo a la sinagoga y enseñando allí. Es un deseo de todo cristiano conformar su vida a la vida de Jesús, y Jesús fue a la sinagoga el sábado. Lo más significativo es que recibir la Eucaristía es el centro de toda vida católica. El Señor nos manda que tomemos y comamos, y que lo hagamos en memoria de Él. La Eucaristía es alimento para nuestro difícil camino por la vida, llenándonos de alegría y fortaleciéndonos para abrazar nuestro sufrimiento. Nos transforma de adentro hacia afuera y crea una unidad entre nosotros que es un fuerte testimonio para el mundo entero. Por lo tanto, es con gran confianza y confianza en el Señor que restablecemos la obligación de la misa dominical. Most significantly, receiving the Eucharist is the center of every Catholic life. The Lord commands us to take and eat, and to do it in memory of Him. The Eucharist is food for our difficult journey through life, filling us with joy and strengthening us to embrace our suffering. It transforms us from the inside out and creates a unity among us that is a strong witness to the whole world. Therefore, it is with great confidence and trust in the Lord that we reinstate the Sunday Mass obligation. DEL ESCRITORIO DEL PADRE ALEJANDRO Queridos feligreses, ¡Paz y gozo en el Señor Jesús! Con la entrada oficial del verano en los pasados días, le pedimos al Señor que aprovechemos este tiempo con renovado entusiasmo, luego de los difíciles momentos que todos hemos vivido durante estos últimos 18 meses. Encomendamos a todos aquellos que en el camino han partido a la casa del Padre y le pedimos a Jesús que nos abra los ojos para combatir todas las demás pandemias que todavía subsisten en el mundo. El domingo pasado celebrábamos la Día Mundial del Refugiado propuesto por ACNUR (Agencia de la ONU para los refugiados). Una gran parte de nuestros parroquianos entran en esta categoría, al tener que dejar su casa y su tierra y emigrar a otros países pues la guerra civil, la guerrilla, los carteles de droga los obligaron. Encomendamos a todos aquellos que tanto ayer como hoy deben y no tienen otra opción que dejar sus países para buscar un futuro mejor. Les recomendamos leer el mensaje del Papa Francisco para la Jornada Mundial del Migrante y Refugiado 2021, que la Iglesia católica celebrará el último domingo de septiembre. Este domingo 27 tenemos la alegría de celebrar la confirmación de los jóvenes: Jesenia, Dania Gabriela, Laura Elisa, Katerin Vicel, Karen Johana, Julissa Victoria, Flor de María, Angélica Cecilia, Lizbeth Alexandra, Idalia Noemí, Carlos David, Kevin Alexander, Diego Julián, Elvis, Erick Ottoniel, Jason Francisco y Alejandro. FROM FATHER ALEJANDRO’S DESK Dear Parishioners, Peace and joy in Jesus, the Lord! We just officially started Summer. We ask the Lord that can take advantage of this time with renewed enthusiasm, after the difficult times that we have all lived during the last 18 months. We entrust all those who along the way have left to the Father's home and we ask Jesus to keep our eyes opened to battle all the other pandemics that still exist in the world. Last Sunday we celebrated the World Refugee Day proposed by UNHCR (UN Agency for Refugees). A large part of our parishioners fall into this category, having to leave their home and their land and emigrate to other countries because the civil war, the guerrillas, the drug cartels forced them. We entrust all those who both, yesterday and today, must and have no choice but to leave their countries to seek a better future. We recommend that you read Pope Francis' message for World Day of Migrants and Refugees 2021, which the Catholic Church will celebrate on the last Sunday in September. FIRST MARTYS OF THE HOLY ROMAN CHURCH Liturgical Memorial, June 30

The celebration, introduced by the new universal Roman calendar, refers to the first martyrs of the Church of Rome, victims of Nero's persecution after the fire of Rome, which took place on July 19, 64. Why did Nero persecuted the Christians? Cornelius Tacitus tells us in Book XV of the Annales: "As voices circulated that the burning of Rome had been malicious, Nero presented as guilty, the people called Christians punishing them with exceptional penalties, to those who, hated them." In the time of Nero, in Rome, together with the Hebrew community, lived the small and peaceful Christians. Of them, little known, slanderous voices circulated. On them Nero unloaded, condemning them to terrible torture, the accusations that had been made against him. For the rest, the ideas professed by the Christians were an open challenge to the jealous and vengeful pagan gods ... “The pagans - Tertullian will later recall - attribute to the Christians any public calamity, any scourge. If the waters of the Tiber overflow and flood the city, if on the contrary the Nile does not overflow or flood the fields, if there is drought, famine, plague, earthquake, the fault lies entirely with the Christians, who despise the gods, and everywhere it is shouted: Christians to the lions! ” Nero had the responsibility of having initiated the absurd hostility of the Roman people, rather tolerant in religious matters, towards Christians: the ferocity with which he punished the alleged arsonists is not justified even by the supreme interest of the empire. Horrendous episodes like that of human torches, doused with tar and left burning in the gardens of Oppio Hill, or like that of women and children dressed in animal skins and left at the mercy of ferocious beasts in the circus, were such that they aroused a sense of compassion and horror in the Roman people themselves. "Then," continues Tacitus, "a feeling of pity was manifested, even in the case of people deserving of the most exemplary punishments, because it was seen that they were eliminated not for the public good, but to satisfy the cruelty of an individual," Nero. The persecution did not end in that fatal summer of 64, but continued until the year 67. Among the most illustrious martyrs are the prince of the apostles, crucified in the Neronian circus, where today the Basilica of Saint Peter is, and the apostle of the Gentiles, Saint Paul, beheaded in the "Acque Galvie" and buried in the via Ostiense. After the feast of the two apostles, the new calendar wants to celebrate the memory of the many martyrs who could not have a special place in the liturgy.

PRIMEROS MÁRTIRES DE LA SANTA IGLESIA ROMANA Memoria Litúrgica, 30 de Junio

La celebración de hoy, introducida por el nuevo calendario romano universal, se refiere a los protomártires de la Iglesia de Roma, víctimas de la persecución de Nerón después del incendio de Roma, que tuvo lugar el 19 de julio del año 64. ¿Por qué Nerón persiguió a los cristianos? Nos lo dice Cornelio Tácito en el libro XV de los Annales: “Como corrían voces que el incendio de Roma había sido doloso, Nerón presentó como culpables, castigándolos con penas excepcionales, a los que, odiados por sus abominaciones, el pueblo llamaba cristianos”. En tiempos de Nerón, en Roma, junto a la comunidad hebrea, vivía la pequeña y pacífica de los cristianos. De ellos, poco conocidos, circulaban voces calumniosas. Sobre ellos descargó Nerón, condenándolos a terribles suplicios, las acusaciones que se le habían hecho a él. Por lo demás, las ideas que profesaban los cristianos eran un abierto desafío a los dioses paganos celosos y vengativos... “Los paganos—recordará más tarde Tertuliano— atribuyen a los cristianos cualquier calamidad pública, cualquier flagelo. Si las aguas del Tíber se desbordan e inundan la ciudad, si por el contrario el Nilo no se desborda ni inunda los campos, si hay sequía, carestía, peste, terremoto, la culpa es toda de los cristianos, que desprecian a los dioses, y por todas partes se grita: ¡Los cristianos a los leones!”. Nerón tuvo la responsabilidad de haber iniciado la absurda hostilidad del pueblo romano, más bien tolerante en materia religiosa, respecto de los cristianos: la ferocidad con la que castigó a los presuntos incendiarios no se justifica ni siquiera por el supremo interés del imperio. Episodios horrendos como el de las antorchas humanas, rociadas con brea y dejadas ardiendo en los jardines de la colina Oppio, o como aquel de mujeres y niños vestidos con pieles de animales y dejados a merced de las bestias feroces en el circo, fueron tales que suscitaron un sentido de compasión y de horror en el mismo pueblo romano. “Entonces —sigue diciendo Tácito—se manifestó un sentimiento de piedad, aún tratándose de gente merecedora de los más ejemplares castigos, porque se veía que eran eliminados no por el bien público, sino para satisfacer la crueldad de un individuo”, Nerón. La persecución no terminó en aquel fatal verano del 64, sino que continuó hasta el año 67. Entre los mártires más ilustres se encuentran el príncipe de los apóstoles, crucificado en el circo neroniano, en donde hoy está la Basílica de San Pedro, y el apóstol de los gentiles, san Pablo, decapitado en las “Acque Galvie” y enterrado en la vía Ostiense. Después de la fiesta de los dos apóstoles, el nuevo calendario quiere celebrar la memoria de los numerosos mártires que no pudieron tener un lugar especial en la liturgia.
