June / July 2019, Polish American News - Page 9 During Your Next Visit to Historic Philadelphia, Visit the Polish American Cultural Center Museum Exhibit Hall, 308 Walnut Street in Historic Philadelphia, PA South view of exhibit hall which highlights great men and women of Polish heritage and the customs and traditions of Poland for more than a thousand years. On the east side of the Museum’s Exhibit Hall, internationally known Polish greats include: Frederyk Chopin, Marie Sklodowska Curie (Madam Curie), Pope John Paul the Great, Cardinal John Krol, and Jozef Pilsudski. The showcases contain information about these Polish heroes and highlight Polish customs which continue to unite Polonia across the world. On the west side of the Museum’s Exhibit Hall, internationally renowned Polish heroes such as Lech Walesa, Ignacy Jan Paderewski, Henryk Sienkiewicz and Mikolaj Kopernik (Nicholas Copernicus). Museum visitors are able to learn more about treasured Polish customs such as Wigilia, Swieconka, Dozynki, as well as Polish Wedding Traditions. The Museum’s Jamestown exhibit highlights the 411th Anniversary of the First Polish settlers who arrived in America on October 1, 1608. The Poland-at-Arms exhibit highlights the fact that Poland was the first to fight against Hitler’s Nazi’s invaders during World War II. The exhibit has drawn hundreds of thousands of people remembering the tragic event that took place in Poland beginning on September 1, 1939.
