Picture It at Covenant We would like to show more of what goes on at Covenant over the Internet via our

Website and Facebook pages. Do you have any pictures of recent Covenant events or activities that you can share? If so please send them into Janet in the church office. Plus in the future – please take as many photos of your events and activities as possible and send them in so that we can post them for everyone to see what is happening at Covenant. Whether it is a photo of someone in prayer, worshipping God, having fun, eating food, singing, studying, working hard or just

enjoying each other’s company – why not take a shot of it and send it in. With your help - we will try to get as many photos as we can onto the

website for all to see.

Patrik Hornak, one of our worshippers, recently graduated from the University of Cincinnati. He has been accepted into UC’s Medical School starting

this August. As we all know, college can be very expensive let alone med school. The Growing in Grace group decided that they would like to help Patrik out by giving him a few items that he could use in his apartment. We are asking the congregation to join in on this project. In this small way we can help him in his

life long commitment to help others. On the table in the Worship Center is a list of needed items. If you would like to help out, sign your name next to the item you would like to provide. Let’s help send Patrik off with the things he needs to make this happen! Bring your items in by July 28. There will be a box with his name on it

or you can place them by the Clothes That Work area in the narthex. Any questions, please see Flossie Power or Linda Eaton.

Thank you!

The end of May means the Memorial Day weekend. But, did you know Memorial Day is still

May 30th? That’s what my little black book says! Now we “observe” Memorial Day on the last

Monday of May (the 27th this year), which gives us all a three-day weekend. Though I like the

three-day weekend, I believe it has detracted somewhat the meaning of this special day.

I remember when Memorial Day was called Decoration Day, the day when the Boy Scouts

(including me) would gather (not always on Monday!) in the local cemetery early in the

morning. We would take flower bouquets and decorate the graves of the men and women who

had served in the military. How thankful we are for those men and women who served then and

who serve now in the name of freedom.

The end of May also means the beginning of June: That means school is out, or almost out, and

summer has begun. Summer: a time for traveling, vacationing, and relaxing.

Unfortunately, summer often becomes a time to miss church! What often happens is attendance

lessens a bit and offerings are forgotten (church expenses do continue throughout the summer!).

Remember, we are open every Sunday. The family of God that calls Covenant home will

continue to gather for worship. Our doors will be open, we will sing praises to God, the children

will gather for children’s church, the offering will be received, we’ll join in prayers, the

fellowship hour will continue, and a sermon will be delivered!

Oh, wait a minute, one thing will change – we’ll be worshipping together. Beginning June 9th,

and continuing through Labor Day weekend, we’ll have just one service (10:00 a.m.). Take

advantage of the summer Sundays to meet, greet and worship with people you may not

normally see during the other nine months of the year. I believe you’ll discover there’s some

pretty neat people in “the other” service! But of course you already knew that. The music may

be a blend of both services, or may be one or the other, depending on Susan’s and Kim’s

schedules. Which Sundays will be which? You’ll just have to show up and enjoy.

I hope you have a great summer! See you at worship!

Ken
