Remember to go to https://www.dkgindiana.org to see the photo gallery with photos from chapters around our state including any found in our Tau meetingsJ

https://www.dkgindiana.org/photo-gallery From our Indiana State Organization of Delta Kappa Gamma: If you have pictures that you would like to share with DKG members around the state or if you have an activity of interest to the members, send the information / pictures, to Stephanie Walsh at [email protected] our Chair of the Educational Excellence Committee and 1st Vice President of Indiana State Organization.

A special thank you goes to all DKG members who dropped off numerous items for our gift bags to our actively working members who number over 20 members. The creativity of messaging and selection of clever or incredibly needed items are much appreciated. Thanks to those who delivered or picked up the items to share. Our working members really appreciate the notes of gratitude. Being an educator has always been very challenging, but the demands today are truly endless. One of the most difficult issues is the health concern that hangs over each educator and all the students involved in our educational programs. Those who were able to meet at the Bartholomew County Historical Society on Sept. 29 were able to roam around the building and enjoy many new exhibits. Executive Director Diane Robbins and Education Manager Adam Rediker shared the exhibits that included Women’s Suffrage, Arvin Products, Medical tools, Farming and Industrial advances and incredible timelines of our county. It was a delight to be in the museum but most incredibly to see our fellow DKG members. Janice Montgomery

Meet one of the DKG Founders This lady may not represent Bartholomew County’s Historical era, but she does have a major impact on DKG. She had a twin sister and five other siblings. She went to the University of Texas as well as Cornell University. At Cornell, she worked on a doctorate in rural education and rural sociology. Going back to the University of Texas in 1927 and after 7 years was promoted to Professor of Rural Education. She was the third women to receive this rank at the university. Most of her work with DKG, after the first initiation on May 11, 1929, was in organizing other states. Have you figured out who she is yet? Oh, she was the first woman to be elected president of the Texas State

Teachers Association. Still wondering????? In 1918, she became the first woman to be elected to a public office in Texas. Have you guessed her name yet?? Give up?? This is Dr. Annie Webb Blanton, born August 19, 1870 and died October 2, 1945. You can go to https://www.dkg.org/DKGMember/About_Us/Annie_Webb_Blanton.aspx to learn more about this fantastic lady.
