June 8, 2020 There must be change, and that change must start with each of us individually. As a YMCA established in Delaware County, we acknowledge that we have an obligation to affect change – change that is meaningful, change that is positive, change that ensures that everyone in our community has the opportunity to thrive. We believe everyone must take a stance against racism and the obvious inequities in our community that exist. We must reject discrimination and hatred. We must speak out when wrong is just wrong. No more lives should be lost because of your skin color. We must embrace love and compassion. The Y’s core values of Caring, Honesty, Respect and Responsibility provide us with the framework needed to help effect change. If we all care and watch out for each other – especially those who have faced systemic prejudice, be honest about the good and the bad going on around us, respect that we are all different and that we are all valued, and take responsibility to be a part of positiveness, then real change can happen. There must be change, and that change must start with each of us committing to each other, acknowledging that everyone is important and that everyone’s opinion matters. Here at the Y, we will be using the voices of our staff, volunteers and community members to start conversations, create change and to help our communities heal. Real change will only start by recognizing that we all want the same thing – an opportunity for life & and opportunity to be part of a community that truly cares. We must do better. With your help, we will do better for our children, for our community, and for our collective future. WORKING HARD to WELCOME YOU BACK SAFELY

WORKING HARD to WELCOME YOU BACK SAFELY

As you know Governor Wolf has moved Delaware County to the YELLOW phase of the Pennsylvania RED/YELLOW/GREEN Guidelines. Right now, we are in the final stages of planning and staff training for our summer day camp and child care programs. We expect both to beginning on Monday June 15. This is entirely dependent on Delaware County staying in the YELLOW phase. We will continue to keep lines of communication open using our email, social media and text messaging platforms. Please know that we support and will follow all efforts being made to keep everyone safe - so we can all get back to more normal, healthier living. The following are the anticipated opening dates for child care and summer day camps at their specific location: Lansdowne YMCA all child care & summer day camps open June 15 Ridley YMCA all child care & summer day camps open June 15 SSD Springfield (at Sabold Elem) all summer day camps open June 15 Springfield YMCA all summer day camps open June 22 SSD Springfield Summer Rec (at ETR) open June 22 We still have openings for most of our camp programs. We have gathered information and have answered some common questions about how the COVID-19 pandemic will affect the operations of our child care and summer day camp programs. These are posted on our web-site and can be reviewed by clicking on the links below.

This week, some helpful videos will be posted on our website and emailed to you. These videos will help you better understand the changes happening in child care and summer day camp. Included will be demonstrations on drop-off/pick-up procedures, health screenings & temperature checks, and our cleaning & sanitation procedures.

We owe a great deal of thanks to the Foundation For Delaware County’s COVID-19 Response Fund and to The Community’s Foundation. Both foundations provided the grant funding necessary to the Y for the purchase of the necessary cleaning & sanitation supplies, including disinfectant fogging machines that we will be using regularly at our facilities. This funding enables the Y to secure the following EPA registered disinfectants for use at each of our locations.

• Lysol For Commercial Use. Aerosol disinfectant spray for high touch surfaces. EPA # 777-99-675

• Avistat-D RTU Spray disinfectant cleaner Manufactured by National Chemical Laboratories (NCL) EPA # 1839-83-2296.

• Defense Multi-Purpose, Broad Spectrum Cleaner Disinfectant with Bleach, RTU Manufactured by Spartan EPA # 5741-28.

• Pure Bright Germicidal Ultra Bleach EPA # 70271-13 • Virex II Manufactured by Diversity EPA Registration Number: 70627-24

Nightly Disinfection of Child care centers and other areas, will be applied via electro-static sprayers. Routine cleanings will be scheduled hourly. All restrooms will be cleaned and all fixtures sprayed and wiped according to manufacturer’s specification for disinfection. Common areas and high touch surfaces will be wiped every hour. The ready-to-use products will be available for all staff to use. All areas of the YMCA will be supplied with hand sanitizer. In child care and summer day camp programs, only staff will be dispensing the hand sanitizer to children and only when hand washing stations are not available

We have received many phone calls, emails and social media posts asking when we will be reopening the fitness centers and swimming pools. The simple answer is not until Governor Wolf has moves Delaware County to the GREEN phase of the Pennsylvania RED/YELLOW/GREEN Guidelines. Even when we are allowed, not everything at the Y will reopen all at once. We are going to take a slow and deliberate approach to reopening. we will adopt a Three-Phase Approach that will gradually return us to full operations. Each phase will last long enough for us to test our systems and make any adjustments needed before moving to the next phase. We know there will be many changes to the Y that you may not agree with and will more than likely be an inconvenience to you. Please know that all of these efforts are being made to keep everyone safe so we can all get back to healthier living. We will be releasing more details about our Three-Phase Approach in the near future.

We cannot thank you enough for your support, which has enabled us to continue to serve our community during this critical time. Your generosity has allowed our Y to host Red Cross Blood Drives, become a collection point for food donations for our local food pantries, use of Y-vehicles to deliver meals to our most vulnerable families, and to be a virtual support to you, our members. That support has been needed more than ever. As we move forward, these, and many other critical programs and services will be needed to help our community recover and thrive. By making a tax-deductible financial gift to the Y, you will be helping us help our community recover and thrive. Find out more here. Until we can be together again, thank you for your support, your kind words, your patience and understanding. Together we have been supporting each other and we are a stronger community because of that. Please continue to check our Facebook page and Website for updates and opportunities to help support our community. Humbly,

Michael Ranck President/CEO
