Jonah Martin Pooler, Georgia is holding a 28 inches spotted sea trout that he caught while using

live shrimp as bait. Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters showed him the catching way!

While inshore fishing with Captain Garrett Ross of Miss Judy Charters Ollie Chestnut (age 5)

visiting from England caught this nice spotted sea trout. While inshore fishing with his father,

grandfather, and Uncle, Ollie made his grand debut. According to the fish catching story told

Ollie caught 7 fish, which turned out to be about 6 more than anyone else. I asked Ollie, “What

kind of fish did you catch?” Ollie answer was fast and quick: “BIG ONES!” And then what

did I do? I shook his hand!

Please meet Matthew Comune, Scott White, Sam Navy, Jack Comune, and Captain Matt

Williams of Miss Judy Charters. When they got back to the dock, I opened the cooler and said,

“Really!” And then they said, “We didn’t keep all of the fish that we caught!” This family

fishing group had great inshore day fishing with Captain Matt Williams. So what’s on the fish

cleaning table? Red fish, trout, and flounder! What would that be? A big darn Savannah Slam

times three!

Jake Adams, Charlotte, NC, Captain Tommy Williams of Miss Judy Charters and Jake’s son

Stacy all have what we call “fish catching smiles!” And where’s the proof? On the fish cleaning

table! What’s on the fish cleaning table? Larger fish are black drum, some really nice size

spotted trout, and a couple of flounder.

Artificial Reefs

Alli DeYoung, member of Miss Judy Charters fishing team, always seems to get her fish! On

this day her and her father Dan were on cobia fact finding mission! As you can see mission

accomplished!

Spanish and King mackerel are holding in these areas. You might not see them,

but they are there! Cobia you can see them, might not always get them to bite, but

they are definitely there for sure! There is lot of action to be found on the bottom.

However, most of the black fish caught are way too small to keep! But lot of fun

to catch on light tackle.

Gulf Stream Update

By Alli DeYoung

At last, one of my favorite times of year here, Gulf Stream time. We left Saturday at 3:00 in the

morning. Good sea going out and lines were in the water by 7:30am. We found one major weed

line that we worked, but only pulled out a few fish. Later we came across a few smaller weed

lines, but still did not get many fish. Today the weed lines brought trouble. Although they had

major grass mats in the middle, either side brought large amounts of scattered weeds that was

almost impossible to avoid. We had enough of fight the weeds so we took off to an area with

very little surface structure or bottom activity and was able to pick off several big bulls and a few

large cows. Our total for the day was nineteen dolphins in the box.

With such a nice day on Saturday, we decided to turn and burn and go back out on Sunday. Lines

were in the water by 8am and we began working a fairly desolate area and was able to get a few

picked off right away. A bit later we found a beautiful rip and weed line; one side provided a

large amount of weeds and the other was a large concentration of white caps and bubbling

action. The bite fired off about fifteen minutes, but as quick as the bite started, it stopped. We

noticed the rip line dissipated, there were fewer white caps, and the weeds became scattered. The

rest of the day we worked some other weed lines and finished the day with nine dolphins. Both

days, the dolphin were more active than normal. They frequently jumped, ran hard, and hit baits

with a large amount of bubbling action.

Unfortunately, we are very near the end of jour chance to fish the stream, but luckily, King

Mackerel, Cobia, and bottom species are only beginning to fire off.
