Dear Sisters and Brothers in Christ,
In this coming week of June 18th, the priests of the Archdiocese will gather for a convocation. They will take time for prayer and reflection together. The entire convocation is designed to help them prepare spiritually for the tasks and challenges that face all of us, as we go
through the process of Renew My Church.
At the very beginnings of Renew My Church, I urged the priests to foster a spirit of unity and collaboration with each other that could enable us to support each other. Our efforts to renew parishes, I reminded them, will involve personal costs, even a kind of dying. So, it is essential
to nourish hope in each other and be aware of the presence of Christ walking with us.
As part of their ministry, your priests pray for you. Now as they gather for the convocation, they need your prayers and encouragement. Carry them in your hearts and in your
prayers this coming week.As you may already know, I have asked parishes to cancel weekday Masses during the convocation, so that priests will be free to attend and participate in this important event for them and for their parishes as well. Please consult your bulletin for
prayer services during this time and for provisions for emergencies.
Providentially, we celebrate Fathers’ Day at the beginning of this week. Priests are fathers who lead and nurture their parish families. I thank you for your prayerful support that is an expression of your gratitude for their ministry and lives. God bless all of you for your kind-ness and, in a particular way, God bless all the fathers in our lives who support and sustain
us.
Sincerely yours in Christ, Archbishop of Chicago

17 czerwca 2018 r.
Drogie Siostry i drodzy Bracia w Chrystusie,
Kiedy rozpoczynaliśmy Odnów mój Kościół apelowałem do wszystkich księży, aby pielęgnowali w sobie ducha jedności i współpracy i, by dzielili się nim wzajemnie.
sposób niech błogosławi wszystkim naszym ojcom, którzy nas wspomagają i wspierają.
Szczerze Wam oddany w Chrystusie, Arcybiskup Chicago

Funerals
John the Baptist Since June 24 falls on a Sunday this year, the Church has
the opportunity for a more intense celebration of the birth of John the Baptist, who is often described as the last of the Old Testament prophets and the bridge between Judaism and Christianity. More commonly, John is known as the
“precursor” of our Lord Jesus Christ. All the Gospels report John’s basic message: Repent, the kingdom is near at
hand. One greater than I is coming.
Though he was a wandering preacher who dressed in camel skins and ate grasshoppers, John’s legacy is one of true royalty. His origins are similar to those foretold by God through the prophet Isaiah: “You are my servant, he said
to me, Israel through whom I show my glory” (Isaiah 49:3). John’s humility—“I am not he”—was surpassed only by that
of his Lord Jesus, the humble servant who followed.

our laws permit violence against little babies, incidents like the Columbine High School shootings are the logical
outcome.”-Fr. Frank Pavone, Director, Priests for Life

My old porch swing is the perfect place, To sit and rest a spell. Drinking in the beauty of the stream, the

We Are One Family, Encircled by God’s Love!
Saint Turibius Parish
Parish Mission Statement
We Believe that God is Love, and when we live in love we live in God and God lives in
us! Therefore we, the Parish Family of Saint Turibius, dedicate ourselves to living out
Christ’s Great Commandment: we will love the Lord our God with all our heart, with all our soul, with all our mind, and with all our strength, and we will show our love for God
by the way we love and care for one another. To this end, we will respond to our baptismal
call, strengthened by the life, death and resurrection of Jesus Christ and empowered by
the Holy Spirit. As a Family of Faith that has an Attitude of Gratitude for the gifts God has given to us, we will share our time, our talent
and our treasure with each other. We welcome into our parish family all people, because we
believe that together we are the Body of Christ and together we can bring the love, peace,
forgiveness, healing, and joy of Christ into our community in ways we never could have if we were to remain apart. May all who meet us, who worship with us, who work and play with
us, know we are Christians by our love!
