What Happened to Right and Wrong

Matthew 7:13-14

From Our Pastor. . . Re-Entry Date Set for Sunday, July 5 – Our Council of Deacons appointed a Re-Entry Team several weeks ago to examine the best time and way for us to resume in-person attendance of worship and other services/activities of our church. Over the last several weeks, the Re-Entry Team has engaged in online seminars, monitored guidelines from our Virginia Commonwealth and local governmental authorities, reviewed best practices from the CDC and Virginia Department of Health regarding gathering in a safe way, and listened to you through a congregational survey. After a significant amount of prayer and upon hearing the report of the Re-Entry Team, the consensus of our Deacon Board is that we begin in-person worship at Abingdon Baptist Church on Sunday, July 5 at 11:00 am. We encourage you to make the best choice for your family and situation as you consider attending in person or continuing to worship via live-stream at https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/live-stream/. Since Sunday, March 15, we have been grateful for the ability to worship together online. We encourage you to continue to attend online if you or a family member does not feel well or if you are just not yet ready to attend church in-person. We appreciate and give thanks for our church staff, instrumentalists, singers, media team, and other leaders and participants who provide a high quality live-streaming worship service each week. Know that you are part of the Abingdon Baptist Church family no matter whether you choose to attend in-person or online. Abingdon Baptist Church Live-Stream is also a great option if you want to invite a friend to join you. You can join us every Sunday at 11:00am ET directly via our church website to experience worship, teaching, and the community of your church family. Our worship service also streams on Facebook, Vimeo, and YouTube. You can also join in on ZOOM Bible study groups on Sunday mornings at 9:45am ET by following one of the links provided at https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/zoom-connections/. There are also links at that location for ZOOM KidZ with Miss Carrie on Wednesday evenings at 6:30pm, and Sanctuary Choir at 7:00pm on Wednesdays. Even if you begin to attend worship in-person, please continue to be engaged in these online offerings during the week.

DIAL-IN WORSHIP: Facebook offers a dial in option for our members without internet service at home. Use your phone to dial in and hear the service “live” each week. Dial in Number: (888) 958-7272 Access Code: #. The access code # changes every Sunday. To receive the correct access code # each week, call the office and ask to be put on the FB Dial-in list. We will send a text message to your cell phone each Sunday (around 10:45am) with the access code for that day. I hope each of you are joining us for worship as we Live Stream each week. This past Sunday we expanded our reach on three platforms. The number of viewers grows every week on all three platforms. We do not want our members missing out. The easiest way to get the worship service is through our website (no logins required): https://www.abingdonbaptist.org/live-stream/ You can find us on Vimeo: https://vimeo.com/event/83170 You can find us on the Abingdon Baptist Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/abingdonbaptistchurch/

You can now find us on YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCQgoMp3keTzX6X6yL916ZUg

We are working through the details to have an Abingdon Baptist Church channel on ROKU and an app in Amazon Fire TV. Details are being finalized this week. After the service each Sunday you will be able to view the service (and past services) on your TV through a Fire Stick or ROKU device. You know what they say? “Stay Tuned.” A couple folks have volunteered. We still NEED more help! If you have an interest in joining our Tech Team we would love to hear from you. We are at the phase where we must develop some depth to our bench: Audio, Presentation Slides, Camera & Live Streaming. Training is available. Perhaps God is calling you to help serve on our Tech Team as we continue to improve our worship broadcast each week. I would welcome the chance to talk with you. Join us Sunday, Live Streaming!

Pastor Renewal Retreat at The Cove – This week Deborah and I will be at The Cove in Asheville, NC for a Pastor Renewal Retreat. Thom Rainer will lead a three day study on “Rebuilding the House of God” from the book of Haggai. Haggai’s call to rebuild the House of God was directed at returning exiles whose own homes lay in ruins—weary people who had lost their spiritual passion. But God wasn’t finished with them yet. God provided incredible hope as He worked through His leaders to build His house. I am encouraged that, though the challenges are many, God always provides a path of

victory for those who are faithful. Today, He is breathing new life into our church. Pray that as God breathes his renewing breath into Abingdon Baptist Church that we will be renewed, refreshed, and revived in our worship and ministry to the glory of God.

Thanks Giving Project – Last week we delivered three Thanks Giving baskets. One went to the grocery workers at Food City, another to workers at Kroger, and the third to nursing staff at JMH, which includes our Crystal McKemy, Lyndsey Counts, and Donna Abel. This week will be the last week for this project as we deliver baskets to the grocery workers at our two Food Country stores and Food Lion. Thank you to all who have participated and donated to this project and to all who have prayed and continue to pray for our essential workers.
