We are one month away from beginning one of the last pieces of our “For The Generations To Come” campaign:
the renovation of the Family Life Center Gym and Lobby. With this renovation comes a significant change in how we use the
Café. We will be moving the use of the room from that of a gym to a permanent venue for worship on Sundays and a place to
hold receptions, dinners, and other events. Here is what we plan to do:
• Remove the basketball hoops and strip the tile off the floor
• Grind down the top layer of cement and then stain & polish the concrete
• Increase the size of the front of the stage
• Build a permanent sound booth, reface the sound panels and repaint the walls
• When all of this is complete we will renovate the lobby
We anticipate this will take 10-12 weeks, which means we will not be holding services in the Café on Sundays. We will move
all of our services to the Worship Center for those weeks. At 8:30 will be our Contemporary service, 9:45 our Modern service,
and 11:10 our Classic service. As you know we are unable to have coffee or a continental breakfast in the Worship Center. But it
is only for 10 weeks or so, then it is back to our 8:30 and 9:45 Café services in a newly renovated room that is more conducive
to worship! All of this begins the week of July 3. We will see ALL of you in the Worship Center on July 9!
In partnership with Fair Oaks
Presbyterian Church, we are helping to host the
Evangelical Presbyterian Church’s annual General Assembly
(GA). This is the first time in the history of our denomination
that a General Assembly will be held on the west coast. The purpose of the assembly is to gather Pastors and Elders from over
500 churches around the country to worship, learn and grow, and vote on suggestions for change in our denomination’s policies
and practices. Some 175+ people from Centerpoint have volunteered to help at the GA, for which our leadership and the EPC
leadership is very grateful. We would also like to invite all of Centerpoint to join with the GA commissioners for two
evenings of worship at Fair Oaks Presbyterian Church. The first is Wednesday, June 21 at 7:30pm. It will feature a time of
contemporary worship with preaching by special guests. The other night of worship is Thursday, June 22 at 7:30pm. This service
will be more traditional with a choir made up of choir members from all five hosting churches. Both nights should be an amazing
experience as we worship with our fellow EPC members from around the country. So come on out and join us!
As most of you are aware, Pastor Tony and his family will
be leaving Centerpoint, Roseville and the USA in July! Tony will be
attending King’s College at Aberdeen University, Scotland to work on a
PhD in Disability Theology (for more information about this, contact the
church office and ask for Tony’s letter about his plans.) Tony, Jess, Cali
and Liam’s last Sunday will be July 9. We will have a cake reception
for them on the Courtyard between the 8:30 and 9:45 services and
before the 11:10 service. We will have a congregational meeting on
that Sunday, immediately following the 11:10 service, to dissolve the
pastoral relationship between Centerpoint and Tony, and to pray for
and lay hands on him and his family. Needless to say, we are grateful
for Tony and Jess’ ministry among us for the past 7 years and we pray
God’s best and fullest blessings on them!

A study of Galatians using the Tim Keller book, “Galatians For You.” According to Keller,

A message from Cameron Pedicord, Director of High School Ministry:
This year was my second time having the
opportunity to lead the High School mission trip to
Ensenada, Mexico during Easter week. Of all my
experiences so far on staff at Centerpoint, this week was
one of my favorites. This year we took 35 students and 19
adults. We had the opportunity to work with two of our
long-time partners: Pastors Javier Villalobos and Carlos
Flores. We also restarted our church partnership with
Jehovah Jire, which is now pastored by Carlos Telles.
Finally, through our partnership with YUGO, we developed a new relationship with Pastor
Manuel Santiago.
With our new church partner, Pastor Manuel, the team ran a Vacation Bible School
(VBS) in the morning. After the VBS program, the church was blessed with resources to run a
lunch program for children. When our food had settled, everyone walked over to a large soccer
field near the church and the team ran a sports ministry. Through God's faithfulness and the
team’s perseverance, the ministry grew throughout the week. While it was difficult at times, the
team did a great job developing the foundation for a potential partnership that could last for
years to come.
Our three other ministry sites ran VBS
programs, painted the outside of a church,
constructed a chain link fence to provide extra
security, and framed a house that will be used to
house ministry interns. Another unique opportunity
this year was to attend each of our partner churches’
Wednesday evening services. There, 11 of our 35
students chose to share their testimonies. It was a
breakthrough moment for the group as many of them
stepped outside of their comfort zones and shared
stories of how Jesus has worked in their lives. By the
end of the week, several students made a decision to
follow Christ and many more grew deeply in their faith
and how they live it out in their daily life. On behalf of
the students and adults who attended this trip,
thank you for all of your prayers, support, care
packages, well wishes and financial giving to
Centerpoint that makes this trip possible.
This is truly a whole-church effort!

SENIOR ADULT LUNCH Thursday, June 8, 11:45am in the Dining Room
Our program will be presented by Centerpoint members who went on the Uganda
mission trip in January. Centerpoint has a long relationship with missionary Catharine
Coon and Hope Alive!, her child sponsorship organization in Uganda. Pastor Jim brought
us a report during a February sermon and now members of our 8-member team will share
their experiences as they interacted with both children and adults in Kampala and Masaka,
Uganda. There will be an opportunity for questions.
The cost of the luncheon is $8.00 per person, payable at the door. The menu includes
teriyaki chicken, pineapple rice and chocolate cake for dessert. Reservations for the
luncheon must be made with Bob or Diane McCarthy at 783-9295 by 5:00pm on Tuesday,
June 6. (Cancellations may be made by the same deadline.) If you are unable to attend the
luncheon, you are invited to attend the program only at 12:45pm.

“Love and thanks to our Pastors and our Centerpoint family for the prayers, cards, and so much more as we experienced God taking our
Suzanne into His Loving arms to heal her completely from Acute Myeloid Leukemia after a 7-1/2 month illness. Out hearts grieve the loss
of our precious daughter. Knowing exactly where she is comforts us and as we weep we remember His timing is always perfect!”

Interest Group, on a recent hike to the
Golden Gate Bridge
A few years ago on Interest
Group Sunday, Mary Newman
signed up on the e-mail list for
the Centerpoint Hikers Interest
Group. Originally, Mary wasn’t
sure about the group because
she was younger than many of
the “regulars” in the group. She
soon discovered that she had
to work to keep up with
them! This active and
welcoming Interest Group is
suitable for most levels of
hikers. If you can’t hike the
whole distance, you simply stop
and rejoin the group when they
return on their way back.
Led by Jere Myers of
Centerpoint, and referred to
as “Jere’s Jaunts,” the group’s
monthly hikes are arranged in
conjunction with Johnson
Ranch Racquet Club and always
have an interesting mix of
people of different ages from
