    Greetings Members & Friends,

I am repeating myself, but nevertheless, so trueappointments are arrangedmarriages! This one has truly worked! I want to hitchhike on the late Bob Hopessong, Thanks for the Memories! Heres just a few:

Our first visit to Chapel and Pastor Harry introducing us. Who would havethought that Id be following Harry?!

Ice Cream SocialsI didnt think any one church could make or eat all of that icecream! Or have that many in attendance!

The patriotic service and picnic on July 4thweekends at Union Grove Lake! The Sunday School picnics at Dan Beanes idyllic setting! The beautiful Christmas Eve candle lighting service Baseball Sunday in the fellowship hall. A service where we learned what it means

to volunteer. The fishing service in the sanctuary where we dared to place a boat! We suggested

that everybody is in the same boat. The first Nurture Committee meeting at our home in Grundy Center. We got off

to a rocky start, but the Holy Spirit brought us together, people and pastor. Wereall on the same page now!

The beautiful and triumphant Easter services

All of the beautiful youth and children in our worship services

    Yes, thanks for the memories!!

I am confident that the transition from myself to Pastor Jennifer on June 1stwill govery well. We plan to continue attending Chapel Church.

    See you soon!

    Pastor Dean & Marvalyn Kelly

We have had a taste of warm weather and you know whatthat means Ice Cream! Remember, our Ice Cream Social is Tuesday,June 25. There will probably be a few conflicts along the way, butChapel people always seem to rise up and make things work!! We would like everyone to wear their purple Chapel Ice CreamSocial t-shirts again this year. We had a lot of compliments on them

the last three years, and it also lets people know who to ask if theyhave a question. We appreciate the seven new freezers that we purchased in2012. We are purchasing 20 more steel ice cream buckets as the oldones are rusting away. Our plans are to make 80 gallons of lemon, 60gallons of vanilla, and 50 gallons of chocolate ~ a total of 190 gallonsof ice cream! We tried a new method of selling the quarts the last couple ofyears, and we thought it was fair to both Chapel people and ourcommunity friends who come to eat and support our social:1) Chapel people can order up to three quarts of any kind of ice creamper family up to noon the day of the social. They will be set aside in aseparate freezer so those who ordered will be assured to get theirs

and not be mixed in with others to be sold. There will be no ice creamsold in the shed.2) There will be runners inside (by the cashier) who will go to the shed, bring the ice cream to the cashier's desk, and give it to the eatingcustomer.3) Ice cream will only be sold to those eating supper at Chapel and tothose who call in with a food take-out order.4) No ice cream will be sold to anyone who calls in that night for icecream only.5) Dan Steen will be at the church the following morning (June 26) at8:00 a.m. From 8:00-9:00 am Chapel people may call in and order(641-751-7334) or come in and get ice cream from what is left overfrom the night before. After 9:00 am anyone, including both Chapel

and community people, may call and order from the remaining quarts. There should be plenty for everyone but it will give us a better handleon needs. We have already started to work on job assignments. Pleaseemail Dan Steen at [email protected] or a particularrequest. Thank you, everyone, for your understanding and support.Thank you, Chairs Dan & Tricia Steen; Jim & LeAnn Fleming; Lee &Patti Cornwell; Chris & Amy Bland; and Dale & Heidi Langenbau.

An announcement was made on May 5 that Pastor Dean will be stepping down as

Chapels pastor the end of May due to health reasons. Pastor Jennifer Daniel will be our

new pastor starting June 1. As you know, Jennifer has been Chapels interim pastor the

last few winters while the Kellys were in Florida. We continue to welcome Jennifer and

her family here at Chapel, and we look forward to continuing to see Pastor Dean and

Marvalyn at Chapel. Marvalyn is in charge of our weekly bulletins now, and Ann Jackson

continues to help Sue Koster with the monthly newsletter. Ann will also prepare therequired paperwork for the conference. We trust the transitions will go smoothly as

Chapel keeps on growing in faith and sharing Gods love.

    Wanted: Jr Sunday School Teachers

Heidi Langenbau, Junior Sunday School superintendent, would like

to finalize preschool through high school Sunday School teachers

for Sept, 2013-May, 2014 very soon. The more teachers we have

the less work it is for everyone, and the material is very easy to

use, especially with Barbara Burt putting each weeks lesson in an

individual folder for you! Please contact Heidi ASAP at 641-499-2541 or

[email protected] if you are willing to help. Thank you.

    Parenting Class

A fourth adult Sunday School class, Parenting Class, is back in session! Experienced

parents were in a panel discussion on May 5, and Jay and Sonya Beichley gave advice

from a youth perspective on May 12. The class is meeting through the summer months

to discuss topics as they arise in their lives. Dee Burt will teach from Focus on the Family

materials in the fall. The class meets at 9:30 am in the upstairs nursery. Everyone is

    welcome!

    Building Committee

The building committee has met several times to evaluate if we want to turn the

sanctuary around. No decision has been made yet. For comments or questions, contac

the committee: Trustees Leon Lamer, Larry Collins, Merlyn Appelgate, Chris BlandDuane Mann & Dan Steen. Other members include the pastor, Mike Vint, Ron Groth

Stan Koster, Kathryn Burt, Linda Svendsen, and Lynn Handorf.

Thank you so much for having the shower for Kevin and me and

welcoming me at Chapel. It was great to meet everyone, and we

both had so much fun. (I especially loved the roast of Kevin!!) I look

forward to attending services and getting to know everyone better.

We were overwhelmed to receive all of the gifts.
