From the Editor

I would like to say a warm welcome to the June edition of our newsletter, but looking outside at the rain and wind, I think that might be a bit presumptuous. Can you believe the nights start drawing in later this month.

Anyway, enough of that, what a great week end was had by all who attended the Flying on the Fylde Rally, put on by Centre 6. In total, there were 298 who attended the rally, which was a good turn out.

Friday night saw the start of the partying with the band Grace who reigned from Liverpool and what a good band they were too. Any Zeppelin fans there would have appreciated their rendition of Moby Dick, as I have only heard John Bonham play the drums like that - Brilliant.

Saturday saw the kite flying on the main field some wonderful idea’s for kites, with the winners Thames Valley Vultures who’s kite just seemed to stay up there. Out kite, or should I say kites, made a damn good effort and if the wind was a little stronger, then maybe we could have challenged.

Saturday night saw the arrival of some Life Guards from Brazil, along with an appearance from Pamela Anderson from Bay Watch for the theme of “By the Seaside” and what a sight they were too.

Even the band - Empress wanted their photograph taken with the Life Guards.

The last Center Meeting incorporated our AGM, where a revised Committee was voted in, along with the annual accounts being presented by Brian. The revised Committee will share various responsibilities which are usually undertaken by the Centre Rep, but due to work commitments, the additional help will enable the Centre to run smoothly. The new Committee is shown at the end of the newsletter.

I know it may seem early, but we are looking at planning our Christmas party and it has been suggested that this year, maybe we could find a location that would have accommodation for those wishing to stay over. Chris Bostock has advised he has found a location - Bestwood Lodge Hotel on 24th November that is £20.00 PP for 3 course meal, Disco and late bar. If you want to stay over, then it will be an additional £40.00 including breakfast (2 sharing) We would appreciate if you could let us know if you would be interested, as we want to go ahead and book somewhere before it is too late. I have enclosed a simple Yes/No form at end of the newsletter for you to complete and return, which would be very much appreciated.

Well, I think thats all from me this month, but don’t forget, if you have anything that you would like to see in the newsletter, then please let me know.

REMEMBER, IT’S THE SHINY SIDE UPJim (Tandem)

CENTRE REP’S REPORT INCORPORATING NOTT’S NATTERING

Sadly, the wet weather at the beginning of May meant that the “Greedy Pig” ride-out was cancelled and there was a low turnout for the East Kirkby Aviation Museum. The weather was drier for the BMF weekend but it was very cold riding down in the morning. Numbers seemed rather low but I expect that’s due to a combination of the recession and the cool weather. Still, managed to get a few bargains and balance them on the bike for the trip home.

The Centre 6, Flying on the Fylde Rally couldn’t have had better weekend with wall to wall sun. It was

great to be sitting around late into the evening and then to ‘party on’ into the early hours. What about the fancy dress night, special mention has to go to the Brazilian Lifeguards – I’m so pleased that I didn’t need any form of resuscitation. There are photos to prove that our kite entry flew in the trials but unfortunately the wind dropped during our official run and we struggled to get the necessary lift. Well done to Terry and Jane for their work on the Lost Riders kite – we was robbed!

Don’t forget to look through the Events Lists at the end of this Newsletter and to put them in your diary before anything else comes along, with the usual plea to get your tickets for the Essex Rally 5-8th July and the Scrumpies Rally 24-27th August.

The Centre 9 meeting on June 5th is to be the Annual General Meeting and we are very pleased that a large number of the Committee intend to stay in their rolls which is great as it gives continuity to the group.

This is the last Newsletter from the current joint team of Chris, Jim and Paul. Plenty of great events to remember for the last year, the Xmas do, the Bowls Bonding Party as well as the usual meetings, ride-outs, and rallies.

We would like to take this opportunity to thank everyone for their support over the past year and to wish all the best to the new committee.Be careful out there.

From the Three (not so) Wise men

Chris, Jim & Paul

DERBYSHIRE DESPATCH

Hello everyone,

I haven’t got much to report this month apart from the usual monthly meeting which saw a good attendance as usual and the twice monthly breakfast meetings. I know several Lost Riders attended the rally at Lytham St Annes so I hope you all had a good time.

Coming up is the organised ride-out to Hunstanton on 10th June which leaves the Unicorn at Gunthorpe at 9.30am but if you want to join Paul and myself at Junction 27 Hucknall side layby you are quite welcome, we will leave there at 8.45am to ride over to the Unicorn to join up with everyone. Also

coming up is the planned MAG ride on the 24th June which is meeting at Coalville Leics to ride up to Junction 26 and onto MFN where there will be refreshments laid on.

Well thats all for this month

See you all soon

Shelagh xx

LINC’S LYRICAL’S

Unfortunately, due to holiday commitments, there is no Linc’s Lyrical’s this month, but look out for next months which will be well worth the wait.

STARTING THIS MONTH - JOE’S TIPS

Joe Broughton, our resident Mr Fix It, thought it would be a good idea to share some of his experience with our fellow riders and for Junes Tip, Joe is starting off with: Cleaning Your Bike

Some bikes have had head/stock and wheel bearing problems. These seem to be related to using pressure washers.

Even in dry weather, give the front forks a wipe over with a damp cloth to remove any dead fly’s, as even these little mites can damage the fork seals.

Seal and fork oil can be upgraded.

All the best Joe.
