Message from the Principal Believe it or not it’s June, and all good things must come to an end they say. For our 8 th grade graduates, their time with us at St. Pius X School also means a new begin- ning in high schools throughout the capital district. We will miss their smiles as well as their antics, but our faculty and staff are sending them off knowing that they are very well-prepared for the academic challenges they will face. As importantly, while they have been with us, they have heard the Gospel message each day, and they know well the responsibilities they bear as children of God. We pray that they will take the lessons learned at St. Pius X with them to find success and happiness while helping to make the world a bit better. May God continue to bless them and their families as they continue their life’s journey. On the other side of the school, our younger students are also winding down the year and getting excited about the summer break. It has been another successful and re- warding year for our school community. Our hard working and dedicated faculty and staff, with your constant support, and a commitment to our mission, have provided our students with a wonderful place to learn and grow. As always, I would like to thank Father Farano for his on-going support and spiritual guidance throughout the year. Our gratitude also to Father Butler who joined us during the school year. A very special thank you to all of our teachers, who taught, com- forted and sometimes corrected our students this year. I would like to extend my gratitude to all of the support staff in our school and parish offices who offer their help on a daily basis. Thank you to our School Board member, who donate their time and treasures in an effort to make our school the best it can be. A very special thanks also to our Parent School Association who contribute so much to the life of our school and who help bring our community together. Thank you to the Pastoral Council and our entire parish community who continue to support our ministry. Thanks especially to you, our parents and guardians, for entrusting us with your most precious gifts each day. We all appreciate the sacrifices that you make to send your children to us. Message from the Principal

Believe it or not it’s June, and all good things must come to an end they say. For our

8th grade graduates, their time with us at St. Pius X School also means a new begin-

ning in high schools throughout the capital district. We will miss their smiles as well as

their antics, but our faculty and staff are sending them off knowing that they are

very well-prepared for the academic challenges they will face. As importantly, while

they have been with us, they have heard the Gospel message each day, and they know

well the responsibilities they bear as children of God. We pray that they will take the

lessons learned at St. Pius X with them to find success and happiness while helping to

make the world a bit better. May God continue to bless them and their families as

they continue their life’s journey.

On the other side of the school, our younger students are also winding down the year

and getting excited about the summer break. It has been another successful and re-

warding year for our school community. Our hard working and dedicated faculty and

staff, with your constant support, and a commitment to our mission, have provided our

students with a wonderful place to learn and grow.

As always, I would like to thank Father Farano for his on-going support and spiritual

guidance throughout the year. Our gratitude also to Father Butler who joined us during

the school year. A very special thank you to all of our teachers, who taught, com-

forted and sometimes corrected our students this year. I would like to extend my

gratitude to all of the support staff in our school and parish offices who offer their

help on a daily basis. Thank you to our School Board member, who donate their time

and treasures in an effort to make our school the best it can be. A very special

thanks also to our Parent School Association who contribute so much to the life of our

school and who help bring our community together. Thank you to the Pastoral Council

and our entire parish community who continue to support our ministry.

Thanks especially to you, our parents and guardians, for

entrusting us with your most precious gifts each day. We

all appreciate the sacrifices that you make to send your

children to us. May God bless you and your children with

a very safe and relaxing summer.

WHY NOT GIVE IT

A TRY!!

Thank you to our students and faculty for your prayerful participation in Catholic Relief

Services’ Operation Rice Bowl this past Lent. Your generous donation of over $2,000 has

helped make Operation Rice Bowl a success.

75% of the Operation Rice Bowl contributions will go to Catholic relief Services and

support projects to help people all around the world who struggle with the burdens of hun-

ger and poverty. 25% of the contributions raised remain in the Albany Diocese and help

fund hunger and poverty alleviation programs in Parish Outreach that assist people in our

own local communities.

Please visit the Operation Rice Bowl website and the Catholic Charities website to find

more information about how your generous gifts are put to use here and around the world.

Reminders from the School Nurse

Please remember the following information as you plan for the next school year: PHYSICALS New York State Education Law requires that each student receive a physical when entering a school district

for the first time and again in grades K, 2, 4, and 7. Any physical exam during the twelve months prior to the

commencement of the school year that the physical is required in is acceptable. All required physical forms

are due by October 1 in the health office. Dental forms are not required at this time. If your child has a

physical scheduled this spring, physical forms can be turned in ANYTIME before the end of the school year!

MEDICATIONS Students who receive medications during school must have a new written Doctor’s order and written parent

permission each year. You can get these orders with spring physicals and have the doctor write that it is for the

next school year. I will send forms home to students with current medication orders and forms to indicate in-

structions for pick up or disposal of this years medications. Medications cannot be kept in the health office

over the summer.

IMMUNIZATIONS All incoming 6th graders who are 11 years old need to have proof of Tdap (tetanus, diptheria, acellular per-

tussis) immunization, as required by New York State, PRIOR to entering school in September. 10-year-

old students who are entering 6th grade will not be required to receive Tdap vaccine but will be tracked by the

school nurse and must be immunized when they turn 11 years old.

Please call the health office with any concerns or questions. Elaine Libruk ,RN

to pick-up we would be more than glad to help with that as well. You can

email at [email protected] or call me at 527-9968 to make

arrangements. All level of books are needed. See the 15 Love link to see

what this great organization does for the community. If you click on the

Education tab on the top it will show you how they work. We will be

collecting until June 15th.
