A WORD FROM YOUR CURRENT & PAST LTG

Hello D37E Jellies!!

Justine HsuLieutenant Governor.Division 37 East2011-2012

It's been more than a month since our Divi-

sion Banquet, where many of us said our goodbyes and see you laters. It's been nearly a month since I graduated from High Tech High North County. It's been several weeks since my Key Club membership terminat-ed and I graduated from Key Club, the organi-zation. By the time you read this (and now it sounds cheesy) I will have attended my first college orientation, signing up for classes that are part of the track that I will be on for the next four years of my life. Time is a funny thing, it passes by so quickly. In the blink of an eye, Key Clubs have been char-tered, divisions have been formed, leaders have been elected, and service has been completed. In a year's worth of time, we as Division 37 East have accomplished so much. It astonishes me to even think about where we'll be in 10 or 20 years. If, in a year's worth of time, we have accom-plished great things, then what will become of us in a couple more years?I'm quite fond of the progress and growth we have achieved. And I'm even fonder of the memories that I've helped to make. I wish the very best to everyone in the future, and I hope to see you all very soon. :]

Meet the LEADERSHIP TEAM“Hello Division 37 East Key Clubbers! I am your di-vision Executive Assistant for the 2012-2013 key club year! I am very excited to serve alongside everyone in the division and meet new jellies throughout the years to come. I am currently a sophomore at San Marcos High School and I have considered myself a dedicated Key Clubber since the very beginning of mmy freshman year. Key Club, to me, is so much more than just another community service, it’s a family in which we all share the same passion for service and a commitment for Key Club. What I’m looking for-ward to next year is our division dominating all the spirit awards at RTC, Fall Rally, and DCON, be-cause after a strong first year as a division, it’s only up from here. GO JELLYFISHES!!”

Patrick GillesExecutive Assistant 2012-2013

Some of my hobbies include hobbies include reading(sometimes), listeningto music, gym, and most importantly SERVICEIf you ever need help with anything at all don’thesitate to ask me. I am your Key Club brother. :)”

to Division 37 East

Welcome to Division 37 East La Costa Canyon,we’re excited that you were able to join ourDivision and we look forward to being with youguys throughout the years! La Costa Canyonofficially got chartered on May 11th and sincethen they’ve been actively participating in comm-unity service within the Division. We’re hopingunity service within the Division. We’re hopingall you Jellyfishes give them a warm welcome andmake their inner jellys come out with spirit! Division 37 East congrats your school for beingable to have a Key Club and being able to joinour loving Division.

“With what started with just a spontaneous whim to make a new club at La Costa Canyon, ended up being the best decision of my entire junior year. Although it took a lot of paper-work and phone calls, getting my school chart-ered was something I will never regret. This yyear, I've met a myriad of different people that I know I wouldn't have been able to meet with-out Key Club and it has taught me a lot about servicing my community and how to be a good leader. The events I've been to through key club, such as the padres game or dcon, have been major highlights of my high school career

3

and I already look forward to starting the next school year with key club as one of my top priorities. Because last year was spent mostly on the chartering pro-cess, next school year we plan on recruiting and making sure that the LCC Key Club will be well known throughout our school and our community.”

Division 37 East had a celebration of one full Key Club yearas a new Division. We came together to recognize individuals and clubs that have helped make this year truly a success. It was a great turn-out and we were able to bond with oneanother to share our successes. A lot of members, officers, and Kiwanis also helped celebrate with us and we also fund-raised for PTP and donate American Flags for a City Wideraised for PTP and donate American Flags for a City WideFlag Retirement Ceremony. Thank you Jellyfishes for makingthis year an amazing first year and let’s continue to raise

the spirit and goals for this upcoming year! (:

“ The first banquet for the D37E Jellyfish was a great success! It was wonderful hearing about our division's accomplishments and the amount of ser-vice that all clubs completed. It was also neat that many clubs received recognition from the District level which really shows that they have each aachieved something great! I felt very proud and humble when I was given the division's "Outstanding Member Award." There are so many members that have also done many service hours and have helped their division in any way they could, so I felt truly honored when my name was mentioned. :D I look forward to working with our n new officers within the division and executive team! I know that together, we can fulfill many great things and show other divisions that the Jellyfish are here to stay! (; ”

Among the great food, the club was able able to clean the beach before the banquet in order to keep the service alive. As the IP President of the club, it was great to see all the dedicated kids come out and celebrate a wonderful year of service and work. I don't know if there could've been a b a better way to end the year!”- Brian Meredith

Mission Hills & San Marcos HS

Escondido High School

“On June 8th, San Marcos High School Key Club and Mission Hills Key Club headed over to the grand opening of Casa de Amparo, which aims to provide child abuse prevent/remediation programs and shelter. Definitely an event on the larger scale, SMHS Key Club's President, Michael Kumura, lead and orga-nized the volunteering that the Key Clubbers provided. This was one of those events where it was so fun to help out at, you forgot yyou were technically working! The place was beautiful and relax-ing, with many suites for the children's shelters, tons of offices, a garden, fountains, and even really nice bathrooms with sofas right next to the stalls that Alexander Han and I discovered and manned for part of our shifts, haha! We helped assist the guests and keep the event in order, by ways such as helping serve food, pick up trash, etc. Everyone was really well treated and the hospitality and generosity surrounding us to help support a cause was definitely evident. We are currently looking forward to another event as San Marcos Key Club has sent up to volunteer at The Casa Kid's Golf Tournament on July 23rd, 2012. We hope to see many Key Clubbers there as we provide the best service possible for our community!”

Club Updates

“Escondido High School’s Key Club has recently participated in the Center Theater EEF's 4th Annual EYMF Fundraiser. Here, our Key Clubbers helped raise money for the education foundation in Escondido. This annual festival celebrated the innovation in Escondido's public K-8 public schools. It also promoted the usage of modern of modern technology and media literacy. Through media competi-tions among Escondido's public K-8 public schools held at the Center Theater in the Center of the Arts, parents were inspired to support this ongoing fundraiser. Key Clubbers helped with handling children backstage when they were nervous, helped sell ice cream (which inspired us to do a similar fundraiser through the same brand of ice cream), helped greet our guests and of course, asked for donations to support our 21st media literacy. At the end of the day, us key clubbers felt we impacted our guests and the children we worked with. Many of the incoming freshmen were ecstatic to join Key Club next year.”
