As part of our long tradition of making disease prevention and health promotion accessible and appealing to our patients, families and community, Aria Health played a major role in two recent community health fairs.

The first took place at St. Anne’s Senior Center in Port Richmond on March 19. Here, attendees were treated to free blood pressure, body mass index (BMI) and cholesterol screenings, and received information on Aria home health, at home, operating room and financial services.

Aria also sponsored the “Live Well Health and Fitness Fair” on April 16-17 at the Newtown Athletic Club in Newtown, Bucks County. Highlights of the fair included free health screenings and Doctor “Q&A” sessions, provided by Aria.

The Aria Health Golf Classic enjoyed another successful year as it raised a gross total of $254,000 in support of the planned expansion of Aria-Frankford’s Emergency Department. This funding will help construct an additional 8,000 square feet of space and will give lower Northeast Philadelphia’s only Emergency Department the ability to accommodate 60,000 annual visits.

Congratulations to Diane Olivieri, RN, Aria-Frankford, 5E who won the iPad 2 raffle prior to the event.

Thank you to all who participated in the event and to those who donated to this worthy cause!

In just the past few months, the students have benefited from Aria employees’ efforts in hosting a book drive and a “Career Day” event designed for the school’s 3rd grade students.

The book drive, which donated 100 books to the school, took place during the first two weeks of March and included such kid-friendly favorites as Harry Potter and Diary of a Wimpy Kid.

Additionally, nine Aria employees gave a presentation at a “Career Day” event on April 15. Students were able to hear what it was like to work as a nurse, x-ray technician and a hospital administrator.
