As I travel the country and provide master planning and design services to all types of clubs, I am actively involved in the addition of more and more outdoor dining/event opportunities and fitness facilities. Inclusion of a stand-alone fitness facility will attract additional consideration from current members and entice future members to join The Country Club of Florida. I really like the proposed facility and see it as a true enhancement to the overall experience at the club, which will in no way detract from the extraordinary golf experience. Pursuant to your request, I have evaluated the impacts of the newly proposed Lifestyle Center on the golf course and have come to several conclusions. Please refer to the attached exhibit for specific details and contact me with any questions or comments you or the Board of Directors may have. As we discussed, there is an industry-standard acceptable safety corridor (safety fan) for golf ball flight which is 15 degrees from a line defined as center of teeing ground to the center of fairway at a known distance. The 15 degrees is measured for both left and right sides of the hole and does not differ with types of golfers (left-handed or right-handed). In this case, I used an arbitrary distance of 800 feet to capture the widest part of the

landing area. However, this fan will not change significantly if the known distance is anywhere from 600 to 900 feet. Based on CADD files provided by Peacock & Lewis, updated landscaping plans from Buzz Jaskela, and my measurement and observations in the field, I am happy to report that the Lifestyle Center, as currently laid out, is outside of this minimum safety standard, and, unless something changes during the design phase, the Lifestyle Center should be out of harm’s way. If, for any reason in the future the layout of the new facilities should change and safety comes into question again, I am confident that a minor restructuring of the tees on the first hole could be executed to meet the needs of the golf course and of the adjusted amenities.
