CAVE QUEST needs our help. We will

help them get ready with our Hearts and

our Hands on June 12, 2016 following

worship. Let’s ALL help this most

impressive VBS (best anywhere in our

area) get off to a great start.

Young at Heart We will gather for food and fun on July 16 at noon at

TGIF (Friday’s), 2022 Miamisburg Centerville Rd. We have a reservation under Young at Heart/Hunt. After we eat,

we’ll have some trivia games (July 4th, Independence Day, (the movie) and summertime trivia. There’ll be fun - and

some prizes!!! See Dale Hunt if you have questions.

Springboro Chamber of Commerce Our participation in Hometown Expo included membership in the Springboro Chamber of

Commerce (325 S. Main Street, Springboro OH 45066, 937-748-0074). The Church joined and that means that every member of the Church is also entitled to all benefits of Chamber membership. The chamber is active and highly motivated to be helpful. They have many services including: member to member weekly emails; several special events each year; Ladies Night Out; Young Professionals gatherings, a discount card for medication and much more. If you have email, send a request to

[email protected] to get on their mailing list. Stop by and visit them (Office Hours: M-F 8am-4pm EST; Sat. hours in summer months) or check out their very impressive web page:

http://www.springboroohio.org.

There will be a Youth Mission Trip meeting immediately following the service on June 5. The following Sunday, June 12, will be the Youth Lock In from 7PM until 7AM for grades 7-12. If you have any questions, please contact Erica Hicks at [email protected].

Garage Sale Results! Thank you everyone for all the help given before, during and after the garage sale. We made

$2,026.35 which is way over the amount we were hoping to receive. We had over 20 people help during the sale but also had a lot of people who donated items for the sale. Although it was a lot of work, it was great working with people we may not normally have worked with

before; it strengthened our Covenant family! Thank you again.

CLERK’S CORNER The 5K Halo was a rousing success for its first year raising $554 which will be split between SCAC, Franklin Food Pantry and our own VBS. Many thanks to Amy Lehman and her crew to make it wonderful and fun experience. The garage sale raised over $2000 that will help our current deficit. Lots of activities are gearing up for the youth this summer like mission trip, lock-in and everyone’s favorite, VBS. Keep a watch on the church’s scrolling marquee or website for details. Look for a church wide small group opportunity on fall sermon series. Launch date is mid-September. Gordon Neumann Clerk, Covenant Presbyterian Church; [email protected]

Sharing the Gift of CPC with Others I was sitting across from an old friend of mine over dinner at one of our old haunts. So much has changed in both of our lives since we last spent time together, but now that I am back in the Dayton area, it was time for us to reconnect. Before our dinner date, I had prayed for an opportunity to share with her all of the wonderful things that are happening in our community here at CPC. Before I continue with this story, let me be completely candid…I was nervous about how I might come across if I tried to invite my friend to our church. I didn’t want to be pushy. I would never want my friends to feel pressured or uncomfortable around me, especially if they decide that visiting CPC is not something they are interested in doing. So anyway, as our dinner progressed we talked about everything. We laughed about memories from high school, reminisced about our college years, and shared what was currently going on in our lives. Both of us busy with our vocations and juggling being full-time working moms to babies, we had so much to talk about! But then the time came for me to begin to talk about this crazy pastoring thing that I do. I had prayed for an organic opportunity to bring it up, and as per usual, the Holy Spirit came through for me. She shared with me that since the birth of her daughter, community and family has become much more of a priority. With both sets of grandparents living out of state, the transition to being a family of three has been much harder for them than they had anticipated. Like many of my peers, she and her family attend one of the nearby mega churches occasionally, but they have not found a faith community that they would call “home.” In response to her, I took a deep breath, and then I began to talk to her about CPC. I told her all about the wonderful things that I see happening in our church. And I boasted about all of you. How welcomed Jono, Cora, and I have been into this community. I invited her to come visit us soon. I walked away from that dinner so thankful for the opportunity to plant that seed. I don’t know how God will use it. I am hopeful that my friend will visit us, but that might not happen. However, my experience with her encouraged me to continue to pray for other opportunities to share the gift of CPC with others. I have to tell you, that since then, God has answered my prayers. I have been spreading the word about our VBS. I am talking about the exciting things God is doing here with folks that I am meeting out in our community. But I can’t do all of it alone. We are in this thing together! This month, I’d like to encourage you to pray for opportunities to share the gift that is CPC with others. From personal experience, I can tell you that when we pray, stuff happens! I am so excited to be a part of this journey with each one of you.

In Christ,

Pastor Sarah
