Project Purpose During this project I plan on encouraging my 5th grade students to work cooperatively in groups while creating a jump rope routine during our jump rope unit. Students will display their routine in front of the class and the teacher and students will grade the routine. We will also videotape their routine so students are able to evaluate their own routine.

Project ObjectivesThe students will be able to:

1. Students will review videos of jump rope routines from past students.

2. Discuss the rubric for jump rope routines expectations.

3. Determine groups of 3-4 students based on student skills.

4. Review different jumps and their feelings about the jumps. Give students time to practice.

5. Students will research the Internet and books for ideas on routines.

6. Videotape students practicing routines and let them review.

7. Videotape final presentation for grading.

8. Write in journals about their feelings and experiences.

Peer Review

The peer reviewer will write approximately ½ page assessing the project. Answer the following questions in your review:

• What worked well for this project?

• What did this project need to work on more?

• Any suggestions for this project?

• Is there any way you could incorporate jump roping into one of your units?

• Would you ever try this project?
